Daya gets closer to giving birth. Aleida tries to reconcile with her but Daya doesn't want to hear it and doesn't buy what she does hear. Daya winds up getting taken to a hospital after she starts bleeding.
Aleida gets the backstory spotlight. Daya figures into the spotlight but the purpose of it seems to be to illuminate Aleida's past. The flashbacks center around Daya going off to camp. It was something that Alieda arranged. It was a sleep away camp. Daya is gone for a month. She was very resistant at first but when Aleida returned to pick her up, a month later, she seemed to have settled in quite well.
Cindy steals some of the corn from the garden. She shares it with Watson, Poussey, and Taystee. Red confronts them as they are eating the corn. Cindy doesn't apologize. Taystee steps in and makes peace between the two sides. Red is still without corn which she was planning to use at the dinner she was preparing for a select group of inmates.
Chapman has a problem on her hands. The guard who has been sneaking the used shorts out in his pants doesn't want to keep doing it. The way he worded his intent to quit the venture makes Chapman think he wants the hand job she promised him before but never delivered on.
Boo helps Doggett get revenge on CO Coates. She puts a sedative in his coffee. They catch up to him after he passes out. The plan is to anally rape him with a broom handle but they both get squeamish about going through with it.
Soso has to turn to Healy for help because Rogers has been suspended. Soso finally agrees to try sedatives but then she steals some drugs from the doctor when he has his back turned. She uses them to try and kill herself.
Daya gives birth to a girl. Aleida tries to make things up to her daughter by calling Delia and telling her that Daya lost the baby while giving birth.
Red's dinner is a success thanks in part to Healy who anonymously gave her a crate of corn.
Cal and Neri discuss how they can make more from Piper's prison panties venture. There experiments lead to the revelation that Neri never had a lesbian fling when she was at Vassar. Cal is very disappointed.
Caputo sees the chicken while walking the perimeter with O'Neil. It is there one moment and gone the next. O'Neil doesn't see it. Together they find the hole in the fence where Chang pulled oranges from in 3.06.
Burset gets attacked by a trio of inmates who want to know if she still has any remnants of her former life as a man. She refuses to show them so they attack her. Burset gets roughed up and demands that Caputo do something about it. She doesn't exactly get what she asked for as she is sent to the SHU for her own protection.
Thoughts
On the whole I enjoyed this episode quite a bit. I laughed out loud a couple times. I was moved by a couple of the scenes involving Daya and Aleida. I thought the actress who played young Daya really looked the part. It wasn't so much that she physically resembled Daya as much as it was her facial expressions that nailed it for me.
