Sugar Water
Queen assaults a man in the locker room of a country club. She is hoping to get information out him, names of men who were behind the death of Safiya Sono, her mother. She doesn't get names but she does learn that other governments were involved in the decision to eliminate her mother.
Safiya was too radical, too dangerous in the eyes of those who came to power in South Africa. Queen gets some help from Fred with researching her mother. She suspects that Dr. Isaacs had something to do with the death of her mother.
An explosion rocks Park Station, Johannesburg, the main train station in the city. Queen was at home at the time looking at pictures of her mother. She goes to investigate and arrives while people are fleeing the train station. She rescues a baby that was left alone and then grabs the hard drives that have the surveillance footage.
The Watu Wema claim responsibility for the attack. Dr. Isaacs goes to report to the South African cabinet. President Malumba is being pressured by his defense minister to declare a state of emergency. Dr. Isaacs disagrees with that course of action.
Superior Solutions arrives in Johannesburg hours after the explosion. Miri tries to nail them for illegally bringing weapons into the country. Queen reaches out to Shandu and arranges a meeting. They talk in a supermarket while they walk the aisles, pretending to shop. They both have bad things to say about the other's organization. He warns her about Isaacs, says that he's Malunga's protector.
Queen finds Dr. Isaacs and gets him to tell her what he knows. He says he was in love with her mother but that he had nothing to do with her murder. The CIA, MI-6, and Die Koporasie were behind it. She almost kills Isaccs.
Thoughts
This was the shortest episode yet. All the others are 40-50 minutes long but this one is barely longer than 30 minutes.
There was at least one loose thread that could have been resolved. Miri seems to have jumped the gun in searching Superior Solutions base of operations. It is unclear if she found anything but it seems unlikely.
On the whole I thought this was decent episode but it also seems like a prologue for the season finale. I don't expect everything to get resolved in the next episode. I think that would be a bit much especially considering the pace that the show has been moving at and number of bits and pieces that have yet to fall into place.
