Atypical 3.08

Road Rage Paige

Casey's happiness over kissing Izzy doesn't last too long. She's happy but then she realizes that she needs to break up with Evan. She gets grounded by Doug for trying to sneak out in the middle of the night to see Evan.

Sam is in a funk. Zahid doesn't want to be his friend anymore. Sam flashes back to the day he met Zahid, three years ago.

Doug tells Elsa hat he isn't ready to get a divorce. He reminds her of how she married him even though her mother didn't want her to and how he stood up for her when her mother made fun of him.

Elsa meets up with her mother. Elsa reminds her about how she showed up drunk to her 27th birthday party. Elsa's mother apologizes.

Evan gives Sam some advice on how to deal with Paige, who has been yelling at lots of people when she drives. Sam and Paige are still on good terms but after they have a chat she opens up and then they go back to his dorm and have sex. It's the first time for both of them.

Casey finally tells Evan that she kissed Izzy. She initiates the conversation but he has to pull the details out of her. He stumbles off, very unhappy. She is left crying.

Sam has decided that Evan should take Zahid's place as his friend. He tells Evan just after Casey broke up with him. Sam gets very angry and wants to confront Casey but Elsa gets to him before he does something stupid.

Thoughts

This was a powerful episode. It was a bit of a downer. It hurt to see Sam and Casey both go through their own struggles with love and friendship. Doug seemed like more than just a supporting character.
