Star Trek: The Next Generation 4.26

Redemption - Part One

The Enterprise travels to the Klingon home world. Picard has been chosen to aritrate the transfer of power to the next leader of the council. Gowron, who was chosen to lead the council but has yet to be formally appointed, approaches Picard. He fears that the sisters of Duras, the previous leader of the council, are planning to stir up trouble.

Worf meets with Kurn, his younger brother. He wants Kurn to join him in his ploy to get their family's name restored. Kern is reluctant but he agrees to Worf's plan.

Both sides (Gowron and the sisters of Duras) want Picard to choose them. He meets with both sides individually but agrees to nothing. He doesn't want to draw the Federation into what he describes as an internal matter for the Klingon Empire.

Worf offers Gowron his assitance as well as that of Kurn and Kurn's allies, powerful military commanders. Gowron accepts Worf's offer including his price, the restoration of Worf and Kurn's family name.

Picard decides in Gowron's favor but the sisters of Duras sway the rest of the council to their side. Gowron is attacked soon there after but survives thanks to some quick thinking from Worf and Kurn.

Worf decides to resign his commission with Starfleet and joins Gowron's crew. Captain Picard is sad to see him go but wishes him well and gives him a fitting send off.

The episode ends with the sisters of Duras meeting with two non-Klingons to discuss their next move. One of them looks very much like Tasha Yar.

Thoughts

This episode was mostly Picard, Worf, and the guest stars. Commander Riker got a few lines but most of the rest of the regular members of the cast got little or no significant moments in this episode.

This was a decent episode but it felt like an appetizer. Hopefully the next one will deliver the goods. I might have enjoyed this one more if I didn't already know some of what was coming.

The Romulan who looks like Tasha is the same one that was in 5.08 (Unification - Part Two). Her relationship to Tasha has yet to be revealed. She was also the one who spoke from the shadows in 4.24 (The Mind's Eye).
