Thoughts

Toby Hadoke (moderator), Barry Letts (producer), Terrence Dicks (script editor), Stuart Fell (body of Alpha Centauri), and Donald Gee (Eckersley) are on the commentary track for this episode..

I was a little surprised to see the Doctor kill five Ice Warriors. I think he has killed before, probably Daleks, earlier this season but it still seemed a bit off. The fact that he does it from a distance the second and third times was especially surprising.

Looking back on this story as a whole it was nice to see that Sarah wasn't the only woman in this story but Queen Thalira wasn't given much to do and wasn't a very proactive character. I blame that on the writing. The dearth of female characters reminded me of Face of Evil where Leela seems to be the only woman in the tribe. Where are they hiding all the women?

This was an okay ending. It wasn't any worse than the previous installments in this story. It would have been nice if there had been some more interesting characters in it but I it was what it was.
