Mischief Mischief
The guards have their draft party. Luschek is voted in as the new league commissioner.
Morello finds out that her cellmate likes to take care of rats, that live behind an access panel in their cell.
Fig talks to Linda. They figure out that there is one prisoner unaccounted for. Chang was caught, so it isn't her.
Coates, Dixon, and Doggett continue to hang out. They are in a bar when they see a news report about Doggett being on the loose. She is ready to give herself up but Coates insists that they can make it to Canada and start a new life there.
The guards do various things to try to move the prisoners to do things that will earn them points.
Baddison plays tricks on Chapman and then pushes Chapman to buy her stuff at the commissary. Vause shrugs when she hears about it but then works to try and get Baddison to back off.
Berlin's cellmate dies. Suzanne suggests that she could be her new cellmate. Berlin objects to that idea, at first. Once she has had some time to think about it she reconsiders because she is worried about who they might move in with her.
Red and Taystee get a chance to compare notes. They talk about their predicament as the ones accused of murder.
Copeland, one of the correctional officers, talks Chapman into starting a fight with Ruiz. Copeland has the missing piece of Chapman's tooth. She offers to return it to her (plus some superglue) if Chapman will start a fight with Ruiz.
Caputo goes to see Linda. He tells her about Taystee being charged with murder and tries to talk her into having MCC launch its own investigation. She isn't interested and threatens to sue him in court if he doesn't take an opening at a prison in Missouri.
Taystee calls Caputo but he is at his wits end and hangs up on her when he gets frustrated at her and his employment situation.
Daddy slips Daya some more oxycontin. Daddy crosses paths with Nichols. The two exchange words like old acquaintances and then go their separate ways.
Someone sneaks up behind Ruiz while she is cleaning a toilet and pushes he face in to the toilet. They hold it there until she passes out or dies.
Doggett and Coates go camping. Dixon doesn't go with them. The next morning, before Coates wakes up, Doggett leaves, walks into town, and turns herself in at the local police department.
Thoughts
There is no backstory spotlight in this episode. The investigators are not in his episode. Cindy, Flaca, and Aleida are not in this episode. Watson is another character who has not been seen since last season.
This is a good episode although I'm not terribly interested in the betting pool that the guards have going. The whole betting pool situation is disgusting and I don't think is being handled very well from a storytelling perspective. Eventually the inmates may figure out what's going on and do something about it.
There is a moment towards the end of the episode where someone releases rats in the kitchen. I wasn't sure what to make of that other than it was someone causing trouble.
I was hoping that Doggett would stay on the run for a little longer that this.
This is a pretty good episode. I can see things building. Hopefully they will eventually be resolved in a way that satisfies me.
