Orange Is the New Black 6.07

Changing Winds

Cindy and Flaca start putting out their "radio" program. Luschek is their producer. They aren't aloud to curse on air.

Morello comes up with some ideas for how to deal with C Block, after Baddison's crew pooped in the laundry. Nichols tries to convince Morello not to get involved. Daya finds Daddy's stash and indulges herself. It makes Daddy angry but then it leads to a hot encounter with Daya.

Baddison finds out that she's been cut out of the drug dealing loop by Carol. She talks to Vause who suggests that she try getting other stuff smuggled in. Vause also suggests that Luschek would be a guard who can help smuggle things in.

Baddison gets the backstory spotlight. She was relentlessly teased at school and didn't know how to deal with it. Her parents sent her to a camp made to clean up unruly teens. She gets picked on there too which pushes her to take extreme measures.

Ruiz resurfaces in the psych unit with Whitehill. It is suspected that she was trying to kill herself. It takes some work but she convinces the doctor in charge that she is not going to try to commit suicide. He has her released back to gen pop.

Doggett sees Linda in civilian attire and doesn't understand. Linda explains that she is an employee of MCC and was undercover. Doggett threatens to tell everyone about Linda's relationship with Boo. Linda gets Doggett moved to Florida with Berlin and Suzanne.

Cindy and Taystee want to talk to Suzanne. Cindy includes a message to Suzanne in her "radio" show.

Nichols talks to Flores who tells her about wanting to get pregnant. Nichols tells her how she can make it happen.

Chapman decides that she is going to write a memoir. She goes to the prison library looking for examples but comes away with pictures of kickball games from years ago.

Caputo and Fig go on a date. He is getting ready to move to Missouri. He sings karaoke to her. She likes it at first and then she stomps off.

Luschek brings in an iPhone. He gives it to Baddison who hides it in her cast. Suzanne meets with Taystee and Cindy. It's more than Suzanne can handle. She accuses them of treating her like a child.

The episode ends when Baddison gets stabbed in the yard by one of Daddy's girls. Baddison passes the iPhone to Vause who doesn't want it but doesn't have much of a choice. An all out brawl breaks out in the yard.

Thoughts

Coates, Red, Aleida, and Bursett are not in this episode.

Is Florida B Block? I don't recall.

Fig makes reference to the Bruce Springsteen video that Courtney Cox is in, that’s Dancing in the Dark, but the Bruce Springsteen song they use in this episode is I’m on Fire. The latter song makes sense for emotional reasons but it isn’t the song that Fig bitterly refers to when she and Joe are sitting in his car before heading to the bar.

There was very little about the government's case against Taystee in this episode. There is no information provided as to who pushed Ruiz's face into the toilet. There is virtually no mention of the betting pool. Does Coates know that Doggett turned herself it? Will he ever show up again? What's going to happen with Daya? Will Madison Murphy survive the attack?

This was an improvement over the previous episode. It felt more cohesive and vital. I feel much more interested in watching more episodes than I did after the previous one.
