Orange Is the New Black 6.12

Double Trouble

Barb and Carol do not fight. They are eventually let out of the cell and returned to their respective parts of the maximum security section of Litchfield. They both start planning for war once they get back home.

Linda gets Fig's help in organizing a video shoot. It is all part of a branding campaign to improve what used to be MCC (and is now PCC) look better. Linda tasks Fig with ranking all the employees. Fig turns the work over to CO Hopper.

Baddison continues to give Chapman a hard time. Chapman has a plan but Vause tries to talk her out of it, once she hears what it is. Chapman goes ahead with her plan and approaches CO Hopper. She tells him about the heroin that Baddison planted in her cell. He is confused but she doesn't get a shot or sent to the SHU.

CO McCullough reacts to a loud noise during kickball practice by freaking out. Kickball practice ends early.

Vause tries to talk Baddison into backing off of Chapman. That doesn't get her anywhere so she appeals to Carol, who agrees to help Chapman if Vause will work for her. Vause accepts the offer.

Baddison cuts a deal with CO Hellman. She tries to get him to make Chapman's situation worse.

Dayanara tries to talk Mendoza into working for Barb. Mendoza has no interest and tries to get some time alone with Luschek to warn him about what is about to happen. She fills in for Cindy on the "radio" program in the hopes she can get some time alone with Luschek. While she is there she doesn't get a chance to talk to him but she does find his score sheets for the pool.

Caputo goes to the courthouse and gets a few minutes to talk to Taystee. He gives her a pep talk when she is at her lowest. He encourages her to do her best when it is her turn to take the stand.

Carol has a chat with Baddison. She warns her to back off of Chapman and tells her that from now on she will be working with Vause. Baddison is not happy about either

Hellman gives a fabricated incident report on Chapman to Hopper to enter in the database but Hopper tears it up after Hellman has left the room and then approves Chapman for early release.

Thoughts

Doggett, Flores, and Aleida were not in this episode. There is no backstory spotlight in this episode. Red and Mendoza have both been sent to SHU by the end of the episode, for separate reasons.

This was a decent episode. I laughed out loud at Hopper's reaction to Chapman approaching him. He didn't know what she knew and she was playing it like she knew more than she did. Too funny. There is little to nothing about his plan to work with Aleida to smuggle drugs into Litchfield.

There was some fat in this episode that didn't really add much, I am thinking of the shoots for the GED program. They were amusing but didn't really go anywhere. I guess that if nothing else they helped to lighten the mood what with the gang war looming on the horizon.

Red's arc gets advanced but it, like a lot of other things, felt a bit rushed.

I don't have high hopes for the final episode of the season but I am looking forward to watching it. Maybe my low expectations will help me to enjoy it more.
