The Next Murder You Hear
A late night radio talk show host is murdered while broadcasting. David suggests that he and Maddie should try to solve the case even though no one has hired them to do it. Maddie is reluctant but eventually she comes around.
Maddie and David discover that the "murdered" talk show host faked his own death. He has been having an affair with Laura, whose husband owns the radio station. The plan was to convince her husband that he was dead and then they could go on with their affair. The plot thickens when Arthur, the owner of the radio station, turns up dead.
I could have gone into all sorts of detail about what happened in this episode but I think my description above captures the gist of it.
Ms. DiPesto is in this episode but only briefly. The only characters in this story other than the regular cast are the talk show host (Paul), his lover (Laura), and the station manager (Sonny). The jilted husband (Arthur) does not make an appearance, before or after he gets murdered.
I don't understand how the Paul managed to get away with faking his own murder. There was no body, as far as I can tell. I'm also a bit unsure as to the killer's motive.
This is the best episode since the pilot. It might even be better than the pilot. The back and forth dialogue between David and Maddie is much better in this episode.
