See How They Fly

Lady Trieu's mother was working for Adrian Veidt in 1985 when he recorded his message to future President of the United States, Robert Redford. She stole a sample of his semen from his wall safe and impregnated herself with it.

Lady Trieu visits Adrian Veidt in his Antarctic lair in 2008. He has no idea who she is, until she tells him. He is angry and refuses her request for funding for her plan to capture Doctor Manhattan. She shares with him what she knows about Doctor Manhattan, things that he has not figured out.

Adrian Veidt in 2019 escapes from Europa with some help from Lady Trieu. He is cryogenically fronzen in gold for the return trip to Earth. She finally thaws him out in time for her big moment.

A God Walks into Abar

Dr. Manhattan finds Angela in 2009, on the 22nd anniversary of her parents death. She is a police officer in Vietnam. She is in a bar, when he finds her, drinking a beer. He asks her to have dinner with him the next night. She laughs in his face and doesn't believe that he is really Dr. Manhattan.

He tells her about his operation on Europa, where he created life including a man and a woman. He tells her about his childhood and the two people who inspired the people he created. Their story, that of Angela and Doctor Manhattan, flashes forward seveal times over the course of the episode.

An Almost Religious Awe

The episode opens with a montage of scenes from the early life of John Osterman.

Angela continues to recover in Lady Trieu's care. She remembers things from her childhood, in Vietnam. She recalls the day her parents were killed, along with many others, by a suicide bomber. She wakes up from that memory only to find that she has fallen out of bed. She still has tubes connected to her arm. Lady Trieu helps her get back into bed.

Cal tries getting in to see Angela but he is turned away at the gate.

This Extraordinary Being

The episode opens with a scene from American Hero Story, the TV show about the Minutemen. Two FBI agents have Hooded Justice cornered. They convince him to take off his mask but then he beats them up.

Angela experiences her grandfather's memories thanks to the load of Nostalgia pills she took. She lives the memories as if they were her own. Will Reeves became a police officer in New York City in 1938. He was one of the few African Americans on the force. Butler, another African American officer, warns him to look out for the cyclops.

It isn't long before Reeves finds out about the cyclops. He tries arresting a man who firebombed a Jewish deli. He takes the man to the police station but soon thereafter the man is let go. Some White officers perform a mock execution and beat up Reeves. They threaten to hang him for real if he sticks his nose in the affairs of white folk again.

Little Fear of Lightning

Wade Tillman (Looking Glass) goes to Hoboken, NJ (in 1985) with a group of other boys and a minister. They are there to proselytize but things don't work out as planned. The squid falls on Manhattan. Wade survives but everyone else near him is killed.

Agent Blake has a chat with Looking Glass. She wants to know about the pills that Sister Night was asking him about. She found out about the pills from an eavesdropping device she put on his desk. He doesn't want to talk.

Wade goes home and tries to relax but his home alarm system keeps going off. He calls the company and complains, after ripping the machine off the wall. The company promises to overnight ship him a new one.

If You Don't Like My Story, Write Your Own

Lady Trieu visits the Clarks, a couple, and offers them a child, they are without children, and $5 million if they will give her their home. The child is biologically their own.

Angela cleans the kitchen where she kept Will. She destroys or attempts to destroy all traces that he was there. She heads over to the Greenwood Cultural Center after she is done in her bakery. She breaks in and learns more about her family history. Her moment of discovery is interrupted by a crashing noise.

Sister Night rushes outside and finds Laurie Blake laughing and the remains of her car. Angela calls to get her car towed. Will's bottle of pills is in the glove compartment. She takes them and goes home to get some sleep. The next day she goes to see Glass. She shows him Chief Crawford's clan robes and asks him to get his ex to figure out what the pills are.

She Was Killed by Space Junk

FBI Agent Laurie Blake is tasked with investigating the death of Judd Crawford. There are doubts that the Seventh Kavalry killed Crawford. Her boss wants to send a team of agents with her but she only takes one, a very junior agent, Dale Petey. They arrive just in time for the funeral.

The funeral gets interrupted by a man in a Rorschach mask who has explosives attached to his body. He warns them that the explosives will detonate if he is killed. He demands that Senator Keane come with him. Agent Blake shoots and kills the man in the Rorschach mask.

Something on his body starts beeping. Angela quickly drags the dead man's body over to the open grave and pushes him in. She drops Crawford's coffin on top of it. The explosives detonate moments later.

Martial Feats of Comanche Horsemanship

Angela leaves the body but takes the old man in the wheelchair back to her bakery. He claims that is was he who hung the chief's body from the tree.

Angela has a flashback to the White Night, the night that most of the police officers in Tulsa were murdered, including Doyle. The children she now takes care of were Doyle's children.

Chief Crawford's body is found the next morning by the police. They suspect that the Seventh Kavalry is responsible for the murder. Red Menace leads the Tulsa police force in an act of retribution as they tear apart a camp of homeless White people. Angela is present but chooses not to participate until one of the homeless men attacks her.

Watchmen (2019) 1.01

It's Summer and We're Running Out of Ice

Tulsa, OK. 1921. A young boy escapes from mob violence.

Tulsa, OK. Present. A policeman almost gets killed during a traffic stop, at night. It's the work of a member of the Seventh Cavalry. The policeman was black. The shooter was white. 

Angela Abar (Regina King) works with the Chief Judd Crawford (Don Johnson) and his police officers to find the would be murderer. They locate him but he kills himself before they can arrest him.

The episode ends with Crawford driving to the hospital late at night. He drives into a trap, doesn't call for backup, and is killed. Angela finds his body after getting a mysterious phone call. The caller meets her under the tree where Crawford was hung. The caller is the boy who escaped the mob violence in Tulsa in 1921.
