Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1.08

Belle is invited to join a high class agency. She accepts the offer but soon learns that it isn't the life she needs. Ben breaks off his engagement with his fiancee.

The episodes of this show really should have been longer than they were. Many, possibly all, of the episodes in this season felt rushed. There just wasn't enough time to pace things in a way that felt right to me. A situation would be set up and then before you know it the episode is ending and things have changed drastically. It was very unsatisfying. I don't hate this show, I just find it to be flawed in a way that makes me reluctant to watch more.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1.07

Belle reluctantly accepts Ben's offer to be her partner in a foursome. She tries to talk him out of it but in the end without a better option she accepts him. The night doesn't go exactly as planned but it also doesn't go horribly wrong. Ben doesn't get to do everything he expected he would be called upon to do or in the moment wanted to do. The experience leaves him a bit disgruntled but with a better understanding of what Belle's work is like.

The most interesting part of the episode was watching Ben and wondering if anything would cause him to do something rash. When Belle was making out with the other woman I wondered if the other man would start coming on to Ben and he would freak out but nothing like that happened.

Still don't love this show. Still want to finish off the season. Just one more episode to go.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1.06

Belle has a bad experience with a client who is acting weird; bad as in he creeps her out. Nothing bad happens to her physically and she kicks him out before either of them start removing their clothes. She turns to Ben for emotional support who suggests that she take a break from her night job and try relaxing a bit, which doesn't last very long. Before very long she has a man back at her place but he isn't a client, just someone she met while shopping for a wedding present for Ben and his fiancee.

Matt Smith, who went on to play Doctor Who a couple years later, showed up in this episode. He plays Tim, the guy Hannah meets when shopping for a wedding present. I would call it stunt casting, what with her having been on Doctor Who prior to this show, but this was a couple years before he was cast as the Doctor.

Not a spectacular episode but it was interesting enough. I don't love this show. I think I will finish off the season, just two more episodes, but after that I'm not sure if I will continue watching.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1.05

- Something old, something new; that should have been the title of this episode if they gave the episodes of this show titles
- Hanna's relationship with Ben, her ex and her best friend, is on the rocks since she told him what she does for a living
- Hanna's agent convinces her to do a threesome (which she has never done before) with another girl (Naomi) and her oldest client (Ashok); Hanna is a bit reluctant but mostly because she doesn't really get along very well with other women; the threesome goes well; Hanna and Naomi start hanging out; everything is great until she learns that her regular appointment with Ashok for the following week has been canceled because Naomi will be taking her place
- Hanna turns to Ben for support, they hang, it goes well, things are starting to look up again between the two of them

- it was interesting watching how things rolled; for a brief moment everything was going great with Naomi, and then it turned out that Naomi was just playing her, or at least that's the way it seems in retrospect; Hanna seemed to think she was turning a corner but it looks as though she wasn't
- similarly, but in reverse, it looks at though everything was broken between Hanna and Ben but then it wasn't
- not a particularly titillating episode; the threesome seemed very perfunctory; the focus here was on Hanna and Ben; Naomi and the threesome were an agent of change that pushed Hanna back toward Ben

Secret Diary of a Call Girl 1.04

- Belle tries something new for one of her clients; after getting some pointers from a professional domme she tries them out on her eager client; this part of the episode is more comical than anything else although it ends with her getting a little too rough with him
- in the other part of the episode Belle gets annoyed at Ben (her best friend) when he reveals that he's getting married; he doesn't know about her professional life but a comment he makes about how little she shares with him leads her to decide to share with more with him
- so what exactly is their friendship based on, it isn't clear from this episode and it has been a while since I watched the first 3 episodes and I can't remember how much backstory of Ben and Belle's relationship was provided in them
- a good mix of serious and silly
