Patriot 1.01

Milwaukee, America

John is a disgraced former intelligence operative. He killed the wrong person once and has been in a funk ever since. He’s married and he's from Texas but he’s been living alone in Amsterdam. John takes a job working for his father, who also works in the intelligence arena. All John has to is take some money from Milwaukee to Luxembourg and from there to Iran. The money is supposed to facilitate the purchase of an election.

John gets a job working for a construction firm based out of Milwaukee, with work in Iran. The job is his cover. He seriously injures the top candidate for the job. John loses the money after he checks the bag when flying to Luxembourg. Someone inspecting bags took the bag. John gets it back but a couple people get killed.

Walking Distance

Martin Sloan (Gig Young), age 36 accidentally travels back in time 25 years and winds up in the town where he grew up. He meets his younger self and his parents. He tries to tell his parents who he is but they think he's crazy. He tries to tell his younger self to enjoy life but only ends up spooking him. He discovers that it isn't quite so easy to return home.

I watched this episode once before, about 5 years ago. I didn't write very much about it back then but you can find my notes here.

Star Trek: The Next Generation 6.12

Ship in a Bottle

Reginald Barkley is trying to repair the Holodeck when he encounters Professor Moriarty. Barkley tells Data and Geordie about what happened. Meanwhile, the Enterprise arrives in the Detrian system to observe the collusion of two planets and the creation of a new star.  

Together, with Captain Picard, Data and Reg return to the Holodeck. Picard tries to explain to Moriarty that he can’t leave the Holodeck but Moriarty insists that he must. Moriarty walks out of the Holodeck, something he should not be able to do.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Painting Class

Charles gives Julie the rundown on the top three suspects he has among the staff of the retirement home. He then starts to look into some of the residents at the retirement home. Julie questions if he is getting too close to the other residents and losing the objective perspective he needs.

Charles gets involved in some recreational activities at the retirement home. The activities bring him a little closer to two of the residents: Florence and Calbert. He suspects Florence of having a gambling problem. He uses Calbert as a sounding board.

Didi seems to decide that she's learned enough about Charles and that he isn't hiding anything.

Doctor Who (1963) 12.05.03

Revenge of the Cybermen - Part Three

The Cybermen didn't kill the Doctor, Stevenson, and Lester. They only stunned them. The Cybermen attach bombs to the three prisoners and then transport them down to Voga, via transmat beam. They are ordered to make their way to the center of Voga. Two Cybermen are sent with them.

Sarah and Harry remain caught in the midst of the power struggle on Voga. Kellman beams down to Voga to check on something, with the permission of the Cyberleader, and similarly gets caught in the midst of the battles between the two factions.

The Doctor, Stevenson, and Lester follow the instructions they've been given and head for the center of Voga. They cannot remove the harnesses because the bombs will explode if they attempt to do so.

A Quiet Funeral

Marty (Robert F. Lyons) kills Charlie (Eugene Roche) but makes it look like an accident. Marty takes the money that Charlie had just collected for a job he did. Marty thinks he's in the clear but he plays it safe only to discover that he isn't free and clear of Charlie.

This is the second of three stories of this series that were written by Robert Bloch. I wrote a little bit about Bloch's credits in my notes about 1.02.A The Bogeyman Will Get You.

Star Trek (1966) 1.22

Space Seed

The Enterprise finds the SS Botany Bay, an old Earth vessel, floating in a region of space where ships from Earth haven’t travelled for years. 

A landing party consisting of Captain Kirk, doctor McCoy, Chief Engineer Scott, and Lieutenant Marla McGivers beams aboard the Botany Bay. They discovers dozens of humans in suspended animation. One of the sleepers starts to wake up. His sleeping unit starts to malfunction. Kirk breaks it open. 

The man is brought back to the Enterprise and taken to Sick Bay. Once he wakes up he insists on talking to the captain. Kirk vista Sick Bay but before McCoy’s patient will answer any questions he has a few for Kirk.
