Star Trek (1966) 2.09

Metamorphosis

Captain Kirk, Mister Spock, and Doctor McCoy are returning to the Enterprise in the Galileo from peace negotiations on Epsilon Canaris III with assistant Commissioner Nancy Hedford when they encounter a mysterious force that brings them to a planetoid with a breathable atmosphere. They left the peace negotiations, which were incomplete, because Commissioner Hedford had contracted Sakuro's Disease. She isn't showing any symptoms yet but she needs immediate medical treatment.

They find Zefram Cochrane, a human living on the planetoid. He was marooned there more than a century before. The Companion, the mysterious force that brought the Galileo there, restored Cochrane, who was in his 80s when he arrived there, to his youth. It kept him from aging. It won't let any of them go because Cochrane needs other humans to keep him company and because it can't leave the planetoid.

Mudd, surrounded by androids who look like identical beautiful women named Alice, explains to Kirk and the others how he got to this planet and why he summoned them. The androids, who come from the Andromeda galaxy, want more people to study. The people who made them are all gone. Decker is in shock and can tell them nothing at first. Once he regains his faculties he explains that he beamed the rest of the crew of the Constellation down to the third planet and stayed aboard by himself to deal with the thing that ravaged the Constellation and most of the rest of the L-370. The Apple

A large team from the Enterprise (Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Chekov, Yeoman Martha Landon, and four security officers) beams down to investigate Gamma Trianguli VI. Spock accidentally discovers that some of the rocks can be explosive when he tosses a piece of one away after easily breaking it in half.

Scott contacts the away team and lets them know that some force on the planet has locked onto the Enterprise with a tractor beam like effect. The crew of the Enterprise is doing what they can to prevent the ship from being dragged down to the planet but the ship only has enough energy to keep resisting for about 16 hours. Two more of the security officers are killed, one by lighting and another by an exploding rock, while the team from the Enterprise explores the planet.

He decides to give the Halkans more time, 12 more hours, to change their minds. Spock and Sulu question the decision but Kirk insists that's how it will be.

Chief Engineer Scott sees that it is harming Uhura and tries to get it to stop. It kills him. Provided with sufficient knowledge of human biology and Scotty's medical records, it restores him to life. Uhura's memories have been wiped.
