Episode 13

Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk talk about the plans for him to return to North Korea at the end of the World Games, in 5 days. He gives her a ring. He also bought one for himself. She is very moved by the gift. Seo-Dan's mother, Ko Myeong-eun, runs into a couple of women from the village when she returning home. They ask her a lot of questions. She tells them that Alberto (Seung-jung) is her nephew but they don't believe her.

Ko Myeong-eun runs into Alberto when she enters the apartment that was meant for Seo-dan and Jeong-hyuk. He explains that Seo-dan drank too much the night before. When the three of them sit down to eat he explains that he has a crush on Seo-dan even though he knows she loves someone else and is planning to marry that someone else.

Se-ri sends Chi-su and the others on a spending spree. She wants them to improve their wardrobe and buy whatever they want before returning to North Korea. Han Jeong-Yeon, Se-ri's mother, confronts Ko Sang-a, one of her daughters-in-law, about messing with Se-ri.

Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri take a day off from work and go for a walk where he reminds her of their first meeting. Man-bok goes out for a smoke and is confronted by Cho Cheol-gang who wants his help in dealing with Jeong-hyuk and Se-ri. Man-bok is too scared to resist.

The women of the North Korean village turn to Alberto (aka Seung-jun) for help figuring out what happened to one of their husbands. Alberto offers reassurances to them that he will find out but Seo-dan, who is also present, isn't as hopeful. Later Alberto, tells Seo-dan about how and why he helped Jeong-hyuk make his way across the border.

Se-ri sends Ju-meok on a date with Choi Ji-woo, a K-drama star. Yoon Se-Hyeong is confronted by his father about what he knew and what he did to try and get Se-ri back from North Korea. He lies to his father and then sets a trap for her in the hopes that Cho Cheol-gang will capture or kill her.

Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk walk into traps set by Cho Cheol-gang but they are ready for them because Man-bok told them about how Cheol-gang was blackmailing him. The episode ends with Se-ri getting injured while trying to prevent Jeong-hyuk from getting shot by Cho Cheol-gang. There is blood on her clothes as Jeong-hyuk holds her unconscious or lifeless body in his arms. 

Thoughts

I didn't get emotional at the end of this episode because I don't believe that Se-ri is dead. The fight scene where Jeong-hyuk takes on a dozen or more of the men that Cho Cheol-gang has at his command was kind of silly. They barely touched him and yet he managed to take down most of them singlehandedly. Ridiculous. 

This show has it's moment but it is way too long. I'm going to watch it through to the end. There are just three more episodes. I am not going to fast track those three episodes. It might take me another month or more to get through them.
