Terror of the Autons - Episode Four

The Doctor shouts and the Brigadier comes rushing back into the lab and saves him from the constricting phone wire.

Someone spots the van full of men in weird masks. The Brigadier goes after them with Captain Yates. The plan is to have the RAF blow up the van with a missile after it stops in a quarry.

The Doctor and Jo stay behind. The Doctor studies the plastic daffodil. He tries to figure out what it does. It turns out that it is activated by radio waves. Jo almost gets killed by the daffodil.

The Master shows up at UNIT HQ and insists that the Doctor and Jo come with him. The three of them go to the quarry. The Brigadier is forced to call off the missile strike on the van. The Autons tie up the Doctor and Jo.

The Works of Man

Shinji can't get over how big of a slob Katsuragi can be. Katsuragi and Akagi go to a conference where a new giant robot is demonstrated. Akagi expresses some doubts about the design of the giant robot. During the demonstration something goes wrong. Nerv is forced to step in and save the day. Shiji in Unit 01 and Katsuragi team up to stop the other giant robot.

Thoughts

This was decent. It helped to expand the world in which this story is taking place, a little bit. Shinji develops a new appreciation for Katsuragi. It looks like a new character, another pilot, is going to get introduced in the next episode.

Isabel Archer (Nicole Kidman) inherits a large sum of money from her uncle. There are two men attempting to woo her prior to this, Lord Warburton and Caspar Goodwood. She rejects them both and instead goes on a trip to Florence. There she meets Madame Serena Merle (Barbara Hershey) who introduces her to Gilbert Osmond (John Malkovich) whom she ends up marrying.

Things go downhill from there for Isabel. She attempts to have a child with Gilbert but she either miscarries or it dies very soon after she gives birth. Gilbert becomes very controlling and gets very impatient when she doesn’t do enough (in his eyes) to help marry his teenage daughter (from a prior marriage) off to Lord Warburton. Things hit rock bottom when he forbids her from visiting her cousin who is dying. 

The Tick (2016) 2.04

Blood and Cake

Arthur and the Tick go to AEGIS headquarters with a piece of evidence. They want to get it analyzed but the lab is shut down. Everyone is focused on figuring out what to do about Superian who just carved up a mountainside to look like himself.

Dot continues to train. Overkill comes by. He's impressed by her dedication but he's down in the dumps because he still can't kill because of the promise he made to the Tick. Dot finds a loophole and orders him to start killing again.

Arthur and the Tick get Danger Boat to analyze the evidence. The Tick says something about AEGIS to CB while they are waiting for it to finish the analysis. Overkill and Dot show up. DB starts playing McArthur Park and locks all the doors. They only have until the song finishes playing. Overkill tells them about the last time something like this happened. He was outside. DB locked the boat and purged everything inside. DB has PTSD.

Operation Love

Bilko keeps the men of Fort Baxter so busy gambling that none of them have time to take their WAC girlfriends on dates. The WACs get fed up with this and transfer to other US Army bases. Bilko realizes the problem he has created and works to convince WACs from other bases to tranfer to Fort Baxter.

Thoughts

Colonel Hall is not in this episode.

I thought this episode was kind of meh. Bilko seems to have superhuman powers of control, first over his men and then over the WACs. It just didn't work for me.

Tom Regan (Gabriel Byrne) works for Leo, boss of the Irish mob. Leo is protecting a bookie named Bernie Bernbaum (John Turturro) from Johnny Caspar, boss of the Italian mob. Tom wants Leo to give up Bernie. Leo refuses. Johnny threatens to apply pressure if Leo doesn't hand over Bernie. Leo doesn't care. He's seeing Verna Bernbaum (Marcia Gay Harden), Bernie's sister, and he isn't going to give up Bernie.

A gang war erupts. Tom gets involved with Verna. Johnny tries to get Tom to convince Leo of the mistake he's making. Tom has gambling debts with another bookie that are getting out of control and he is danger of getting his legs broken if he doesn't pay up. Leo kicks Tom out of his organization when he finds out about Tom has been seeing Verna on the side. Johnny asks Tom to help him find and kill Bernie. Eddie Dane, Johnny's right hand man doesn't trust Tom. Things get crazy and stay crazy for most of the movie.

Harry (Ben Gazzara), Archie (Peter Falk), and Gus (John Cassavetes) lose one of their best friends. They start the grieving process by drowning their sorrows with heavy drinking. That doesn't numb the pain they are feeling. Harry suggests that they fly to London. He seems determined to go with or without Archie and Gus so they decide to go with him. They do a little bit of gambling as a casino. Despite all being married with children they pick up women and take them back to their hotel.
