Young Justice 2.20

Endgame

Superboy, Miss Martian, and Adam Strange arrive on Rimbor with evidence that the League is innocent and that the Light and the Reach are the real culprits. They arrive just a little too late. Judgement has already been rendered and the League are no longer in the courtroom.

Back on Earth, Aqualad, Blue Beetle, and Green Beetle confront Black Beetle. Green Beetle tries to reprogram Black Beetle's scarab but Black is too strong and overpowers Green's scarab, destroying it. Blue takes on Black and is successful where Green was not. He does not reprogram Black's scarab but destroys it. Blue learned from Black's scarab, just before he destroyed it, of Black's plan to destroy the Earth.

Miss Martian and Superboy try talking the tribunal on Rimbor into reconsidering their judgment in light of the new evidence. The tribunal vaguely suggests that it is interested in more than setting the record straight. Miss Martian and Superboy point out that this is a very high profile case. Revisiting the case might help make the tribunal more popular thus increasing their business.

Black Beetle's plan is set into motion as his bots launch devices which will soon destroy the Earth. The League and the young heroes come up with a plan to disable Black's bots. They get some help from Lex Luthor. They destroy all the devices only to discover that there is one that they missed. Flash, Impulse, and Kid Flash go after it. They run really fast around it. It seems to be working but Kid Flash, who isn't as fast as the other two, is injured and phases out of existence.

Artemis is understandably distraught and decides to take on the identity of Tigress now that she has lost Wally. Impulse takes on the identity of Kid Flash. The Reach are escorted by the Green Lanterns, away from Earth. Lex Luthor becomes the new UN Secretary General. Cassie and Tim are now a couple. M'Gann and Connor almost kiss but they are interrupted by a summons to the Watchtower. Nightwing decides to take a leave of absence and turns the leadership role back over to Aqualad. Vandal Savage delivers the Warworld to Darkseid.

Thoughts

I didn't have high hopes for this episode but I think that it exceeded my expectations. There's too much packed into this one episode but considering what they had to accomplish I thought they did a pretty good job with it.

I may at some point go back and watch this season again but I don't think I like it as much as the first season. The first season had more of a focus on the characters than this one did. There were character moments in this season, including some good ones, but quite often it felt like they were wedged in wherever they would fit. They weren't the focus. Action got the spotlight this season. As always if you invite too many people to the party you shouldn't be surprised if it gets chaotic.
