Mr. Inbetween 2.06

Let Me Stop You There

Ray deals with losing Ally. He throws away pictures of her and the stuff she left at his place. He goes to one of his anger management meetings. He tells the group about punching Trent. The group leader tries to tell him the violence never solved anything. Ray suggests that it solved World War II. The group leader doesn't concede. The meeting ends. Ray is still bummed.

Ray agrees to a meeting that Freddy lines up. Simon, the client, is having trouble with a girl he was seeing on the side. Simon is married and somebody important. The girl wants money. Ray is reluctant to take the case. He says he needs a few days to think about it.

Ray gets a call from Vinnie, the guy he was hired to kill (see 2.02) and whom he ran into by accident (see 2.03). Vinnie wants to hang out. Ray is game and they agree to try and get together in a couple weeks. Ray runs into one of the guys that hired him to kill Vinnie, later that day. He wants to know what's taking so long.

Ray tracks down Simon's girlfriend. She's pregnant. She wants money so she can raise the child properly. Ray leaves her and goes to talk to Simon. He tells Simon that he's talked his girlfriend down to a much lower amount of money. He tells him to pay up or else.

Ray sees Ally at the grocery store. She walks away as soon as she sees him. She vanishes pretty quickly.

Thoughts

This isn't an action heavy episode. None of them are but this one was especially moody. I like it in the context of the larger show but I can see how it might not appeal to some people. Ally doesn't have any lines. Bruce, Gary, and Brittany aren't in this episode. This episode title is a line that Ray uses when he's talking to Simon after tracking down his girlfriend.
