Chapter VII
Lionel's stories, which he writes under the name Chester, have become very popular. He wants to write more but he also wants to experience more. He goes to a BDSM party with D'Unte. Lionel gets bored and winds up chatting with Michael, a friend of D'Unte.
Sam tries to work on her movie for Professor Skyler but can't seem to get anywhere. She goes to see her idol, Cynthia Fray. Ms. Fray doesn't give her any useful feedback on her movie and leaves her regretting she went to see her. She finally goes back to see Professor Skyler and has a constructive conversation with him.
Brooke gets called out by Kelsey for ignoring her. Brooke badgers Lionel because he isn't doing his job as editor of the Independent. She is ready to quit the Independent when she overhears Muffy tell Coco about something Moses Brown did to her, in private.
Thoughts
Troy is not in this episode.
Cynthia Fray is played by Laverne Cox whom I know best from Orange Is the New Black.
There is no follow up on Gabe's fraud. I expect it will come eventually and will probably push Sam away from him. Who's going to defend him this time?
This show continues to feel very understated. It's kind of funny how they seem to have gotten rid of some of the supporting cast (Al, Rachid) but don't seem to be focusing all that heavily on those that remain. It isn't that I can't see what the various stories are it just doesn't feel like the stories are linked together or that the show has a center, other than the location. I don't hate it but I am far from in love with this season.
