The Last Dance 1.10

Chapter X

The 1998 NBA Finals opened in Salt Lake City. The Jazz had the home court advantage and won the first game, in overtime. The Bulls had to come back to put the game into OT. The Bulls came back and won game 2. Both games were close.

The series moved to Chicago and game 3 was a blow out. The Bulls won game 3 by 42 points. Dennis Rodman didn't show up for practice the next day. He appeared on a WCW wrestling show instead with Hulk Hogan. Phil Jackson wasn't happy but he took it very even-handedly. The Bulls won the next game, which was close, to go ahead 3-1 in the series.

The Bulls were primed. Game 5 was played in Chicago but the Jazz outplayed them and won the game, although it was close. The series returned to Utah for game 6 and possibly game 7.

One of the stories of game 6 was Scottie Pippen's back. He was hurting badly after game 5 and was out for most of the first half. He came back and played in the second half but he wasn't as effective as he normally was. Jordan won the game in the end for the Bulls with a shot that put them up by 1 with just over 5 seconds to go.

The episode and the series ends with a lot of celebration and some discussion of what could have been and of the final team meeting.

Thoughts

I feel as though this series could have been a couple episodes shorter. It wasn't bad it just wasn't great. It was a bit much for someone who is not and was not a Bulls fan. It also ends kind of abruptly. There could have been some coverage of what happened to the Bulls in the ensuing years. Of course, that would inevitably have led to discussion of Michael playing for the Wizards and I don't think that the producers or MJ probably wanted to go there. It would have changed the demeanor of the ending.
