Orange Is the New Black 4.01

Work that Body for Me

Chapman misses out on the swim in the lake. She seems to think and feel like she's the boss lady due to her business that she had going at the end of Season 3. Her power level takes a bit of a hit when she is unable to boss around one of the new inmates assigned to the cubicle that she shares with Red.

Whitehill walks in to the greenhouse as the killer (disguised as a CO) is strangling Vause. Whitehill attacks and kills him. Vause and Whitehill argue over what to do with the body. The dead assassin gets a text asking for a status update. They wind up having to take a picture with his phone to prove that she is dead. They push the body into a corner and cover it with a tarp and then try to pretend that they went to the lake just like everyone else.

The guards finally get their act together and round up the prisoners and bring them back in to the prison but it looks like some are missing. Suzanne and Kukudio take off into the woods. It is Kukudio's idea but Suzanne goes along with it for a while. She decides she's had enough when it becomes clear that Kukudio is delusional. It is a little too much even for Suzanne.

Judy King waits around to be in-processed. Luschek winds up spending most of the afternoon keeping her company in the mail room. Eventually she does get taken care of. She almost ends up bunking with Poussey but Caputo insists that they have a better spot for her. The spot turns out to be Healy's office.

Morello also missed out on the swim in the lake. She tries telling others about her wedding and the sex she had afterwards. Everyone seems to be more interested in talking about how much fun the lake was.

Caputo has his hands full. Several bus loads of new prisoners have arrived. They bring in more beds and double up the prisoners, mixing the new prisoners in with the old ones. He gets help from the new head CO, Piscatella.

Kukudio returns after Caputo and one of the new, replacement guards, go out and find her. Caputo takes a look at her file. He seems a bit surprised by what he finds there but he doesn't say anything specific to her about it.

Vause goes back to deal with the body after lights out. She tries to get Whitehill to go with her but that doesn't exactly work out so she goes it alone. Vause finds out that he's still alive but in very bad shape. He can't move. She smothers him until he stops breathing. The next day she goes back with Whitehill only to discover that Berlin has found the body. She helps them to chop it up and then they bury it in the garden under some new plants.

Thoughts

There is no flashback spotlight in this episode. I don't think there was in the first or last episodes of season 3. I guess I'll find out if they return next episode.

I'm on board with this season, at least for now. I wasn't blown away by this episode. I'm curious to see how they are going to work in new inmates at Litchfield. There's plenty of room for new storylines. It is really unclear at this point what is going to take centerstage, if anything.
