All of Earth's weapon systems no longer work. General Wells tries contacting other world leaders only to have their teleconference shut down by the Thanagarians.
The Justice League, minus Shayera who is still working for her people, is being held captive aboard a Thanagarian war ship but Wonder Woman initiates an escape. She frees Batman who liberates Flash while she is busy fighting their Thanagarian jailers. Pretty soon all six of the heroes are free. They fight their way out of the ship and hide in nearby Metropolis.
Hro Talak orders Kraeger, his lieutenant to find the escaped prisoners. The Justice League hide out in Metropolis. They disguise themselves as civilians and split up into pairs. Batman and Wonder Woman take off in one direction, Green Lantern and Flash in another, Superman and J'onn J'onzz in yet another. The plan is to meet up at Bruce Wayne's place in Gotham City.
Hro tells Shayera about the Thanagarians' real plans for Earth. They are going to create a Hyperspace Bypass very close to Earth. It is part of their strategy in the war with the Gordanians. The bypass, once activated, will destroy Earth.
The pairs of heroes make their way through Metropolis. Batman and Wonder Woman almost get caught but a retaurant owner helps them to hide in his restaurant. Wonder Woman makes out with Batman to hide their faces when the Thanagarians enter the restaurant. She apologizes to Batman after the Thanagarians leave. He is not offended by her aggressiveness.
Green Lantern and Flash almost get caught when they are trying to board a train but Superman, disguised as Clark Kent, mild mannered reporter, and J'onn J'onzz create a distraction that allows their teammates to board the train unnoticed.
Shayera tries to talk Hro into a different course of action but he insists that the Hyperspace Bypass must be built near Earth. Earth must die so that Thanagar can live. Kraeger reports in and asks Shayera if she knows where her former teammates are. She gets angry and attacks Kraeger before leaving.
The six teammates meetup at stately Wayne Manor. They still don't know what the Thanagarians are really up to. They are in the middle of talking when Shayera shows up. She apologizes, tells them that she didn't know what the Thanagarians were up to, and tells them about the plans for Earth. She gives them a storage device with information about the Thanagarians. She also returns Green Lantern's ring, which was taken from him while he was a prisoner, before leaving.
Shayera doesn't know it but Kraeger planted a tracking device on her and the Thanagarians now know when the Justice League is.
Thoughts
The escape near the beginning of the episode was great. I really like both scenes where teams of leaguers almost get caught. The romance between Batman and Wonder Woman continues. I think it was first and last seen in 2.04.A and 2.04.B (Maid of Honor). There is a lot of tension in the scene at the train station. For a moment there it looked like Green Lantern was going resort to a more conventional and direct approach to dealing with the Thanagarians.
The scene at the end in the Batcave was top notch, especially the confrontation between Hawkgirl and Green Lantern.
This is another quality episode. It could just be the middle chapter of the story but even on its own it has its own little arc. Watching it one episode per week like this makes me appreciate Starcrossed that much more.
