Batman Beyond 3.13

Unmasked

Terry tells Max about the time he showed a little kid what he really looks like under the mask. Miguel Diaz, the kid, was in a burning building. Batman tried to rescue him but Miguel was scared of him and kept backing away from Batman. Terry removed his mask to prove that he was a regular person and not some sort of monster. The kid relaxed and let Batman save him.

Kobra gets wind of the fact that Miguel saw what Batman really looks like and kidnaps him. They use a device on Miguel that transforms his thoughts into images. Batman manages to track down Kobra's hideout but it is too late because they have already transmitted the image that appeared on the screen to all other Kobra locations.

In the end it turns out that the joke is on Kobra because the face in the image is that of one of Miguel's action figures.

Batman Beyond 3.12

Countdown

Mad Stan strikes at the World Science Symposium. He's trying to wake the world up to the dangers of technology by blowing up things like the World Science Symposium. Batman shows up but Stan escapes while Batman is rescuing scientists.

Zeta and Ro, are in Gotham, when they are attacked by agents of the National Security Agency led by Agent Bennett. Zeta and Ro get separated. Zeta gets knocked out but rescued by Mad Stan who doesn't realize until later than Zeta is a robot.

Ro turns to Batman for help. He agrees to help her out after rescuing her from members of the Jokerz gang.

Curse of the Kobra - Part Two

Terry recovers and locates Max with some help from Bruce. Terry has some cracked ribs from his most recent fight. Terry breaks into Kobra's headquarters. Zander has revealed his plan to Max by this point. She thinks he's nuts. He orders his men to splice her, with dinosaur DNA.

Terry gets there in time to prevent Max from going reptile. Terry battles with Zander's men and dinosaur men. He gets some help from Kairi Tamaga, the martial arts instructor with whom he was training in Part One. She prevents Zander from setting off a bomb which would alter the global temperature but she is unable to escape Kobra's ship.

The episode ends back at Kairi's dojo where Bruce, Terry, and Max think about her as they watch flowers float in the pool.

Batman Beyond 3.10

Curse of the Kobra - Part One

Bruce sends Terry to Kairi Tanaga for some martial arts lessons after some of Kobra's goons manhandled him while they were robbing Nova Research Center. Terry bonds with Zander, one of Kairi's other students. Together they fight back against the Jokerz Gang while they are out for a slice of pizza at Cheezy Dan's.

Terry also investigates Doctor Padu Banjahri after he sees the paleontologist attacked by two of Kobra's goons. Banjahri works at the Gotham Natural History Museum. Terry sneaks into the paleontologist's office and discovers that he was working on a project involving dinosaur DNA.

Zander abducts Max. They met earlier in the episode just before the Jokerz Gang showed up. She showed him how to play a video game called Sentries of the Last Cosmos. Terry tries to chase them down but one of Kobra's henchmen beats him up pretty badly. 

Batman Beyond 3.09

Betrayal

Terry's friend Charlie (aka Big Time) breaks out of prison and robs an armored car. His partner in crime is the Major, someone he met while in prison. Charlie feels alone and has a couple of the Major's flunkies kidnap Terry and bring him to the Major's hideout.

Terry loses his bat suit during the abduction. He escapes from the Major's hideout but Charlie catches up to him. Terry talks to Charlie and convinces him to turn himself in. Charlie agrees but only after the Major has been taken into custody.

The police catch the Major and his henchmen but Charlie goes back on his word. Terry gets his uniform back and takes on Charlie. They fight on a suspension bridge. Charlie ends up falling from the bridge.

Batman Beyond 3.08

The Call - Part Two

Batman shares with Barda, Aquagirl, Green Lantern, and Warhawk what he learned about Superman. The team confronts Superman and wind up fighting with him. They don't get the answer they are looking for and Superman flees when the going gets tough.

The team follows Superman to the Fortress of Solitude. They get there via Barda's mother box which creates a boom tube. They find Superman and another fight breaks out. This time they subdue him using the Kryptonite that Batman brought with him. When Superman's shirt is removed they see a very large starfish attached to his chest.

The starfish is from another planet and the last of its kind. It was captured by The Preserver. Superman later brought it and other creatures to the Fortress of Solitude. He didn't know what else to do with them so he kept them there in his zoo.

Batman Beyond 3.07

The Call - Part One

Batman is invited to join the Justice League by Superman after Micron, another member of the League, is injured while trying to stop a runaway train. The other members of the Justice League aren't very welcoming, in large part because Superman didn't consult with them before extending the invitation to Terry. Superman confides in Terry that he thinks there is a traitor on the team. He hopes that Terry can figure out who it is.

Terry does his best but two members of the team, Aquagirl and Warhawk, are badly injured in separate incidents. Terry and Bruce examine the footage of the explosion that injured Warhawk and find that Superman was the one who triggered the detonation.

The episode ends with Bruce giving Terry a piece of kryptonite to help him deal with Superman.

Batman Beyond 3.06

Speak No Evil

A gorilla is on the loose in Gotham. When Batman catches up to it he discovers that it is intelligent and it can speak. Terry was going to return the gorilla to the Gotham State University lab from which it escaped.

Batman changes his mind after he learns that the ape got this way because a couple scientists experimented on it with illegal chemicals. He offers to help the gorilla bring to justice James Van Dyle, the man who illegally took the gorilla from the wild and separated it from its mother.

Out of the Past

Talia returns. She offers Bruce a chance at rejuvenating himself in the Lazarus Pit. He turns down the chance but later changes his mind and accepts her offer. Bruce and Terry travel to Talia's island base. Bruce gets dipped in the Lazarus Pit for the first time. It doesn't fully restore him to his peak but the changes are noticeable. It is about this time that it becomes clear that everything is not as it seems. There is something about Talia that isn't quite right.

Bruce and Terry try to leave the island but Talia insists that they stay. Terry almost gets thrown to the alligators and Bruce almost gets lobotomized. In the end they escape as Talia's island home goes up in flames.

Batman Beyond 3.04

Big Time

Charlie "Big Time" Bigelow, a friend of Terry's, gets out of prison after serving three years for armed robbery. Charlie has some plans for a new heist and wants Terry to help him out. Terry owes Charlie. Terry was there too on the night of the heist that sent Charlie to prison but Terry was only 14 so he got a slap on the wrist compared to Charlie.

Terry talks Bruce into getting Charlie a job at Wayne-Powers. Charlie takes part in a heist of some chemicals from Wayne-Powers. The heist doesn't go as planned. Batman show up. Some chemicals spill on Charlie and he mutates. Charlie goes back to prison.

Batman Beyond 3.03

Inqueling

Inque sabotages a rocket that is getting ready to take off from the Shimano Space Center. Batman shows up in time to confront her but Inque gets sway. Inque meets Winchell, her client, but he's changed his find about honoring their agreement. He blasts her with a high powered weapon that badly injures the shapeshifter.

Batman turns to Max for help finding Inque. Inque turns to her daughter, Deanna Clay. Deanna has problems of her own but agrees to help once her estranged mother agrees to pay her. Deanna steals some mutagen that Inque needs badly. Batman confronts Winchell, who tries to kill him, and gets the information he needs to find Inque.

Batman Beyond 3.02

Untouchable

Batman tries to track down a villain with a superpowered suit. Terry spends time with Irene, a girl about his age whom he recently met. Who is the villain behind the mask? Could it be Irene? What about Dr. Blades, the man in charge of the research facility where Irene lives due to her medical condition? Could he be the villain?

Thoughts

This episode was better than I thought it might turn out to be. It's good but not great. There is a bit of bait and switch towards the end of the episode but that didn't bother me too much. I do enjoy the angsty episodes like this one.

Batman Beyond 3.01

King's Ransom

The Royal Flush Gang are in the process of robbing an art museum when Batman shows up. They get away with the goods but Batman captures Jack. Batman is left wondering for whom the gang stole the piece of art. Jack isn't willing to talk. The Royal Flush Gang's client turns out to be Paxton Powers. He short pays them which leads them to capture him and ransom him.

Terry and Bruce retrieve another stolen piece of art from Paxton's private collection. Bruce meets with the Royal Flush Gang to deliver the ransom. King has (by this time) made a deal with Powers. He promises to pay them even more if they will just kill Bruce Wayne. Batman is Bruce's backup but he gets tied up in a fight with Ace of the Royal Flush Gang.

Batman Beyond 2.06

Blood Sport

Batman is hunted by Stalker, who breaks into a museum in order to lure Terry into a trap. Batman's first encounter with Stalker ends when Stalker throws a smoke bomb at him. Stalker later catches up to Terry while he is with Matt, his little brother, at Cheezy Dan's. Terry leaves his brother with Max and takes off running. He makes his way on to the subway but Stalker finds him there.

Terry evades Stalker and makes his way back to Cheezy Dan's. He finds Max but his brother is missing. It isn't until after he talks to Bruce that Terry discovers that his clothes were covered with a substance (from the smoke bomb that Stalker threw at him earlier in the episode) that is hard to detect but that helped him to track Terry.

Batman tracks down Stalker who has just finished telling Matt his origin story. Batman and Stalker fight. Stalker starts to hallucinate and imagines that Batman is the great cat who almost killed him earlier in his life. Stalker runs in fear and is hit by a train.

Starcrossed - Part 3

Shayera returns to Thanagarian command ship where she is met by Kragger. He arrest her and takes her to Hro Talak. Kragger shows Hro the evidence that Shayera has told the Justice League about their plans and returned Green Lantern's ring. Talak is anrgy he has Shayera locked up and then sends Kragger to kill the others.

The Justice League is still in the Batcave making plans when Kragger and a squad of Thanagarians arrive at Wayne Manor. The Leaguers defeat the Thanagarians. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Green Lantern head to the Gobi Desert, where the Thanagarian command ship and the Hyperpace Bypass Generator are located. Batman, J'onn J'onzz, and Flash interrogate Kragger to learn how to fly the Thanagarian craft. J'onn has to use his mental powers to enter Kragger's mind and learn how to fly the Thanagarian ship.

Justice League 2.13.B

Starcrossed - Part 2

All of Earth's weapon systems no longer work. General Wells tries contacting other world leaders only to have their teleconference shut down by the Thanagarians.

The Justice League, minus Shayera who is still working for her people, is being held captive aboard a Thanagarian war ship but Wonder Woman initiates an escape. She frees Batman who liberates Flash while she is busy fighting their Thanagarian jailers. Pretty soon all six of the heroes are free. They fight their way out of the ship and hide in nearby Metropolis.

Hro Talak orders Kraeger, his lieutenant to find the escaped prisoners. The Justice League hide out in Metropolis. They disguise themselves as civilians and split up into pairs. Batman and Wonder Woman take off in one direction, Green Lantern and Flash in another, Superman and J'onn J'onzz in yet another. The plan is to meet up at Bruce Wayne's place in Gotham City.

Hro tells Shayera about the Thanagarians' real plans for Earth. They are going to create a Hyperspace  Bypass very close to Earth. It is part of their strategy in the war with the Gordanians. The bypass, once activated, will destroy Earth.

Justice League 2.13.A

Starcrossed - Part 1

The Justice League are in Washington, DC guarding the Kasnian peace conference when a giant spaceship attacks. Hawkgirl recognizes it as a Gordanian cruiser. It proves to be a little too much for the Justice League but then more spaceships appear and strike down the Gordanian ship. The other ships are from Thanagar. Hawkgirl's teammates quickly learn is her home planet. The commander of the Thanagarians is Hro Talak. He wants to meet with the Earth's leaders.

Commander Talak gives a presentation to the United Nations. He explains the danger that Earth is in from the Gordanians. He offers the assistance of Thanagar. The Earth's leaders need a little time to decide. Green Lantern meets Hro Talak and learns that Talak and Shayera are engaged. John is angry at her for not telling him about her people.

The Earth's leaders decide to accept the offer of help. The Thanagarians start to build a giant force field projector in the desert with some help from the Superman, J'onn J'onzz, Flash, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman.

Wild Cards - Part 2

Green Lantern is badly injured in the blast that levels the casino. Hawkgirl finds him and revives him but he is in no shape to continue fighting. She takes him away from the fight to get him medical attention.

Justice League 2.12.A

Wild Cards - Part 1

The Joker plants a bomb in Las Vegas. He challenges the Justice League to find it. He has cameras all over the city watching them as they search for the bomb. He gives them less than 25 minutes to get the job done. Superman finds the bomb but it turns out to be a dud. He and the rest of the league get attacked by the Royal Flush Gang. The Joker explains who the Royal Flush Gang are and gives a brief description of them and their powers.

Justice League 2.11

Comfort and Joy

The Justice League saves a distant planet and then splits for the winter holidays. Green Lantern decides to stay on the snowy planet and go sledding, just like he used to when he was a kid. Shayera stays with him. They get into a snowball fight and then later head to one of her favorite hangouts. There they engage in one of her favorite activities, a bar room brawl.
