The Blue Blood of the Bilkos

Bilko steps into to help SSgt Bentonhurst, a friend whose son is about to get married to Jenny Wingate. Jenny's family is an extremely old one. They can't stand the the thought of a sergeant in the army being a part of their daughter's wedding. Bilko flies to Philadelphia, the home of the Wingates, He questions Mrs. Wingate, Mr. Wingate, Commodore Wingate, and their servants all under the pretense that he is with Army Intelligence. He asks lots of intrusive questions and accuses them of all sorts of things in the hopes of convincing them to let Biff's father come to the wedding.

Thoughts

Colonel Hall, and Corporal Barbella, Corporal Henshaw, and Private Doberman are not in this episode. The only members of Bilko's platoon that are in this episode are Fender and Papparelli.

I thought this episode was a lot of fun. Bilko runs roughshod over a rich family in the hopes of getting them to change their mind. I get a kick out of watching how Bilko marches in and takes over the situation.

Notes

McLean Savage played the part of Commodore Wingate. This is the third and final episode of the show in which he appears.

Raymond Bramley plays Holton T. Wingate, Jenny's father. This is the first of two episodes of the show in which he appeared. The other episode is part of the third season and he plays a different character in that one.

Fred Herrick plays the part of SSgt Bentonhurst. This is the first of four episodes of the show in which he appears. This is the only episode from the second season in which he appears. He plays different characters in each of the other three episodes.

Ephrem Zimbalist Jr. played the part of the musician. This is his only appearance on this show. He showed up in 5 episodes of Maverick (1957-58).  He was a member of the regular cast of 77 Sunset Strip (1958-64, 179 episodes) and The F.B.I. (1965-74, 241 episodes). He played the part of Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's butler, for more than 10 years (1992-2004) starting with Batman: The Animated Series all the way through to Justice League. He played lots of other comic book characters on other animated TV series including Justin Hammer and Dr. Octopus.

Ann Flood played the part of Jenny Wingate. This is the first of two episodes of the show in which she appears. The other episode is from the third season of the show and she plays a different character in that one.
