Quiver
Johnny starts to give lessons to large group of teens who recently joined his class. Most of them don't last very long. Within a few lessons the group has thinned out. Demetri and Eli are among those who decide to leave. Miguel tries to get Johnny to take it easy on the others. Miguel's words and an old cassette trigger some memories for Johnny of what he was like when he first got interested in karate.
Sam continues to get harassed by other students in school, mostly over the internet. Miguel crosses paths with Kyler in school. Kyler doesn't give him a hard time. He doesn't say anything to Miguel. He just turns around and walks away. Miguel and Sam work together in biology class.
Robby starts to work at LaRusso Automotive. Some of the senior sales guys give him a hard time and try to get him in trouble. Robby almost quits but after having a chat with Danny he decides to stick around.
Eli returns to Johnny's dojo, with a faux hawk. Johnny had been calling him Lip before he quit. He invites Eli back to the class and starts calling him Hawk. Robby delivers some papers to Danny at his home. It turns out to be another prank played by one of the senior salesmen. The envelope he bought just has a magazine in it. Robby expresses some curiosity in the karate that Danny was practicing when Robby showed up. Danny invites him to stick around and learn something.
Thoughts
The episode opens with one of Johnny's flashbacks, I think there were just two flashbacks in this episode. When the episode began I wondered if this episode was going to be all about Johnny's origin story.
Robby and Sam look like they are destined for romance. I wonder how that is going to hit Johnny and Danny. I'm sure it will complicate things.
My guess is that the faux hawk was a stunt. I doubt that Eli will still have it next episode. We may never see him with it again. It has served its purpose.
I thought this was a pretty good episode. The show still isn't blowing me away with greatness but I'm enjoying it.
