When They See Us - Part 3
Antron, Ray, Yusef, and Kevin eventually get out on parole. Their families help them to different degrees. They all have to register as sex offenders.
Antron still holds a grudge against his father. His parents split up. His mother has taken his father, who is in really bad shape, back in. Antron gets a job at a movie theater. He stays there for a while. He starts to date one of his coworkers but it doesn't work out and once his parole is done he moves to Baltimore.
Ray moves back in with his father, who has remarried. His father's second wife doesn't like him. He finds a job. He reconnects with an old girlfriend. Things seem to be going pretty well but then he loses his job and starts selling drugs.
Kevin has lots of support from his mother, sister, and the rest of the family. He runs into Yusef, by chance at a meeting for sex offenders. Yusef has gotten married and is working with computers.
Korey is not in this episode. His mother tries to get Yusef's mother to get Yusef to write to Korey. This is while Yusef is still locked up. Yusef's mother doesn't want to do anything that might jeopardize Yusef's shot at parole.
Thoughts
It isn't clear exactly how much time has passed but I know that the least amount of time any of them spent behind bars was 6 years.
There are glimpses of Antron, Ray, Yusef, and Kevin as teens but most of this episode is set several years later. They have all aged and are played by different actors.
I wasn't sure where this episode would pick up. There were moments of good and moments of bad in this one. I'm not talking about the quality of the show. This episode like the previous two is powerful and moving. It isn't always easy to watch.
The first two parts took place before they went to prison. The last two take place, for the most part, afterwards. This episode doesn't stand on it's own as well as the first two did. It is very well done but I feel as though a lot of this is set up for what comes next, in the final episode.
