My Friend, My Youth
Captain Harlock and his crew repair the Arcadia in Pirate Island. The Mazone look for the Arcadia. Queen Lafresia suspects that the Arcadia must be in bad shape, wherever it is. She initiates Operation Roller to find Captain Harlock and his ship but her forces are unable to find any sign of the Arcadia.
Pirate Island blends in very well with the other asteroids in that region of space. Captain Harlock reminisces about Tochiro Oyama, his friend who built the Arcadia and who is the father of Mayu.
Harlock recalls how Toshiro and he met Emerelda and how they were forced to go on the run from the forces of law and order. Emerelda tried to hire them but they weren't interested in working for money. Harlock and Tochiro had dreams that they wanted to fulfill.
Harlock and Tochiro were captured by Admiral Horra and taken in the Battleship Everest to the Bad Planet. There they were forced to work in the mines. They saw other men die in the poor working conditions. Harlock and Tochiro worked their way into Admiral Horra's guard force. They sabotaged his battleship just as Emerelda came to free the prisoners.
Thoughts
The flashback to Harlock's days before he was captain of the Arcadia isn't over, based on the preview for the next episode.
This is another solid episode. Most people might not think this was great. I think I would agree with most people but I did enjoy it/
This is a fun diversion. I really like this episode.
