The North Korean Coast Guard commander sees Se-ri and Jeong-hyuk kissing. He lets them go and doesn't arrest them but he orders the captain of the fishing boat to turn around and head back to shore.
Se-ri is frustrated. That night, after they get back to Jeong-hyuk's home, she takes off with her parachute and her harness. She is ready to try parasailing back to South Korea. She tries using her walkie-talkie. No one responds to her calls for help but a North Korean listening post picks up her transmission.
Jeong-hyuk heard Se-ri leave and goes looking for her. He finds her just as she is going to try parasailing back to the south. They end up parasailing together to evade the North Korean border patrol.
Jeong-hyuk later goes to the market to buy something and inadvertently helps someone who has been spying on him.
Se-ri is being kept company by Jeong-hyuk's men. They unknowingly give her an idea about how she can help him. She wants Jeong-hyuk to get a promotion so that he will have more power and can get her home. She goes to a birthday party for Yeong-ae, the wife of the colonel who is the highest ranking man in the village. She makes friends with the Yeong-ae.
Jo Cheol-gang asks a friend of a friend to investigate Jeong-hyuk's fiancee. He finds out that there are no women in Division 11 of Se-ri's age.
Se-Ri's family squabble some more.
Seo Dan visits with her mother and then later goes to see Jeong-hyuk. The car she riding in breaks down on the side of a dirt road. The driver goes to get help. Goo Seung-joon is passing along the same road while her driver is gone. He offers her a ride which she accepts
Se-ri goes shopping in the market with Yeong-ae and a couple other women from the village. She is very happy to find someone selling her company's products but she has to correct the saleswoman about some of the details of the product. Se-ri gets wrapped up in talking to the saleswoman and gets separated from the others. She gets scared and doesn't know what to do.
Jeong-hyuk gets home and finds two of the women who were at the market with Se-ri and Yeong-ae. They tell her about how they lost track of Se-ri. He runs to the market to find her. It is after dark at this point but he finds her.
The episode ends with another flashback from years before in Switzerland. Se-ri was recording a note to her family and getting ready to jump off a very high bridge. Jeong-hyuk was nearby. Seo Dan was with him. Seo Dan was paying no attention to Se-ri but he could see that something was wrong. He asked Se-ri to take their picture. Se-ri says to herself that he could do better as she is taking the picture.
Thoughts
I have major issues with the scene where they parasail to safety early in the episode. They never really explain how they got home. One minute they are parasailing and the next thing you know they are back. No explanation what so ever.
I'm getting a little better with the names. I can at least remember the name of the two leads without having to look them up. The other characters names I'm not so good with.
I am now a quarter of the way though the series and halfway through the season. I'm going to stick with it but I don't see myself picking up the pace.
There are a lot of loose threads in this series. I'm glad, in a way, that there is a language barrier. It makes it very hard to keep up with everything.
