The Teen Titans cross paths with someone dressed as X, the identity that Robin sometimes adopted in the first two seasons. X is out to steal some Zynothium which powers his weapons and his suit. X is too much for the Teen Titans. They can't stop him.
Robin turns to Professor Chang for help finding Zynothium. The villainous Professor Chang has no interest in helping Robin and the Teen Titans. The Teen Titans, minus Cyborg who has been captured by Professor Chang, converge on a warehouse. Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire are captured by Professor Chang's assistants.
Robin catches up to X. The two fight. They are tricked into helping Professor Chang steal Zynothium. Robin goes to rescue his friends, after locking up X. Professor Chang and his men are too much for Robin but X shows up and lends Robin a hand, just when it seems like all is lost.
Thoughts
This is the only episode of this season that X appears in, according to my research, but Professor Chang will be back later this season.
I'm not sure how well the plot of this episode holds up under close examination. Why did X help Robin in the end? What happened to him? Why did Robin think that Professor Chang would help him? The other Titans notice that Cyborg is gone but they don't seem to make a big deal of it when he shows up again. That seemed a bit odd. Who was X? The Teen Titans never do get to the bottom of that mystery.
I enjoyed this episode possibly a little more than the previous one. I'm not sure how much follow up there is going to be on the mystery of X.
