Wonder Woman Meets Baroness Von Gunther
Major Steve Trevor falls under suspicion of being a Nazi spy. He is summoned to appear before Congress to explain his recent actions which placed him in close proximity to incidents that harmed the US war efforts.
Someone, who refuses to identify himself, calls Steve and tells him to meet him at the Old Virginia Stables. The mystery man promises to turn over some records that have mysteriously disappeared. Steve goes to the stables. There he almost dies in a fire after being hit on the head and knocked out. Wonder Woman arrives just in time to save him.
Steve Trevor and Diana Prince go to the prison at Fort Myer in Arlington, VA. They meet with Baroness Von Gunther, a Nazi, who was captured months before. Steve hopes to get some information about Nazi activities in and around Washington, DC. The Baroness is a little too slick for Steve. Diana has to leave before the interrogation ends.
The key to solving the case and absolving Steve of any wrong doing turns out to be Tommy, the warden's son. Tommy finds a key that leads to a secret passage that leads out of the prison. He learns that one of the guards, Hanson, is helping the Baroness continue to run a ring of Nazi spies from her prison cell.
Thoughts
This episode is now considered part of Season 1 but it was originally a one-hour TV special.
None of the guest stars have names that I recognized. I think I might have seen a couple of them in guest appearances on other TV shows.
Wonder Woman's magic lasso gets stolen by the Baroness. Wonder Woman left it with Tommy when she had to leave the prison in a rush. The Baroness doesn't really do anything with the magic lasso, which is kind of disappointing.
Etta Candy shows up briefly in this episode but doesn't do much and only has a couple lines. General Blankenship is in this episode but he is played by a different actor from the one who played him in The New Original Wonder Woman (1975).
This episode was fun. It wasn't great. It was a bit predictable. The villains took themselves a little too seriously. I enjoyed watching it even though it is laughably bad in places. It is definitely a creature of its time. I wasn't expecting more than that and I wasn't disappointed.
