Robot - Part Two
Miss Winters and Jellicoe walk in and give the robot orders to halt. They tell Sarah Jane about the Robot and then give her a demonstration in the hopes of convincing her that it cannot be used to harm people. They ask Sarah Jane to swear that she won't tell anyone about what she saw but she leaves without agreeing to their request.
Sarah returns to U.N.I.T. HQ and tells the Doctor and and the Brigadier about what she saw. Sarah, the Doctor, and the Brigadier go to visit Professor Kettlewell. She tells him about what she saw. Kettlewell gets very distressed by the news that the Robot may have been ordered to do things that are against its programming, like killing people.
Miss Winters and Jellicoe reprogram the Robot and send it out on a mission. It breaks into the home of a government official, kills him, even though that is against its prime directive, and steals some plans.
The Robot goes to visit Professor Kettlewell the next day. It is in great distress over what it did.
Sarah Jane does some research and discovers that most of the people who work at Think Tank are also members of a fringe organization known as the Scientific Reform Society (SRS). She goes to see them but they turn her away.
The Brigadier and the Doctor visit Think Tank. Miss Winters and Jellicoe show them around. They are there to see the Robot but according to Winters it has been dismantled and destroyed. The Doctor and the Brigadier leave empty handed.
The Doctor gets a phone call from Professor Kettlewell. Kettlewell tells the Doctor about the Robot. The Doctor goes over to see Kettlewell but Winters and Jellicoe get to Kettlewell before the Doctor gets there. The Doctor arrives and discovers only the Robot. It tries to kill him. He ducks and dodges. The episode ends with the Doctor on the floor, unconscious as the Robot closes in on him
Thoughts
This episode ended more or less the same way as the previous one, with the Robot closing in on someone. It was Sarah Jane in the first episode.
Sgt Benton is still credited at Sgt Benton in the credits but in towards the end of the episode it is revealed that he is now a warrant officer. I wonder if the promotion of Sgt Benton has anything to do with the fact that Captain Mike Yates is no longer part of the U.N.I.T. team?
Harry Sullivan goes undercover in this episode to investigate Think Tank. His "disguise" makes him look very much like John Steed in The Avengers.
This is very good, lots of fun. The supporting cast as always makes all the difference in the world. The actors playing Kettlewell, Winters, and Jellicoe are all very good.
