Better Call Saul 5.03

The Guy for This

Lalo hires Saul to be Crazy Eight's lawyer. Saul doesn't want to do it. He asks for about $8,000 for the job. Lalo gives him the money, in cash. Saul goes to see Crazy Eight. There are things that Lalo wants him to pass along to Crazy Eight.

Kim wants to do her pro bono work but she gets a call from Schweikart who got a call from Kevin, at Mesa Verde. She drives out to deal with a situation. There's a man who refuses to move. She tries to sweeten the deal but the man still won't budge. The man doesn't have the law on his side but he doesn't care.

Mike drinks at a bar. He walks home drunk and gets accosted by some younger guys hanging out, drinking. He deals with the one who is trying to mug him. The others let him go.

Nacho tries to get his father to leave town, once again. His father sees right through it. His father refuses to take the money.

Crazy Eight gets a visit from two DEA agents, Hank Schrader and Steven Gomez. Saul walks in just as the interrogation is beginning. Saul inserts himself into the process and gets on the nerves of the Schrader and Gomez. Crazy Eight gives the DEA agents information about drops sites where money can be found in return for getting the charges against him dropped if it leads to arrests.

Nacho meets with Gus and tells him about what's been going on.

The episode ends with Jimmy and Kim back at their apartment, at night. Kim is angry. She and Jimmy throw bottles of beer from their balcony until they hear someone coming.

Thoughts

What is going on with Mike? He's been in the last couple episodes but not very much. Is he just treading water? Kim feels like she is headed somewhere but I'm not sure where. Saul is starting to get in bed with the more serious criminals. I'm pretty sure that he and Crazy Eight were putting on an act for Hank and Steve.

This was a much better episode than the last one. This is more like the show that I have grown to love.
