The Shinigami's Work
Most things seem to be back to normal the next day. Ichigo discovers that he's the only one in his family who remember what happened. Rukia shows up at Ichigo's school the next day. She tells everyone that she is a transfer student.
Ichigo demands to know what she is doing there. She explains that she is stuck on Earth until her powers return to normal. She enlists Ichigo, once again, in the fight against the evil spirits known as Hollows.
Sora Inoue, the older brother of Orihime Inoue, one of Ichigo's classmates, returns as a Hollow. He died years ago in the clinic that Ichigo's father runs. It wasn't until recently that Ichigo was able to put the pieces together and connect that death with Orihime.
Sora attacks Ichigo in his bedroom. Ichigo drives him off. The episode ends with Orihime and Tatsuki, another classmate, hanging out in Orihime's apartment. They hear an ominous noise coming from another room in the apartment.
The first half of this episode is mostly Ichigo and Rukia. They are also in the second half but it is focused mostly on Orihime and her brother.
This episode introduces Orihime and Chad, although he doesn't play a very big part in this episode. Chad is only in one scene. His role will grow. Orihime will also become a regular down the road.
Ichigo is still reluctant to do the work of a Shinigami. Rukia forces him on two occasions to transform by knocking his soul out of his body.
This was a decent episode. They are still laying the ground work for this season. It isn't a bad episode it just doesn't stand out as being all that special in my mind.
