ROZZUM 7134 (Lupita Nyong'o) arrives by chance on an island that is only inhabited by wild life. Roz, as she starts calling herself, learns the language that the animals speak. She takes on the responsibility of raising Brightbill, a gosling whose parents she accidentally killed. Roz tries more than once to reach out to Universal Dynamics, the company that made her. UD eventually sends a ship to retrieve Roz but by then she has decided that she would rather stay on the island.
The animation is gorgeous.
I wasn't fully won over by the story. One element of it has all the animals coming together for their mutual benefit. I found this to be a little far fetched.
I accepted that Roz learned how to speak to the animals but I thought it was kind of ridiculous to suggest that the animals all spoke the same language.
Overall there's a lot here to like but this film didn't quite satisfy me.
