Moonlighting 2.12

North by North DiPesto

David and Maddie send Agnes to the California Investigators Association dance in their place. Maddie helps Agnes get dressed up and get her hair and make-up done. Agnes meets a man named Kyle at the dance. They dance. Kyle hands her a piece of paper with some numbers written on it and then he disappears.

The next day Kyle shows up at her office. He takes her out for a bite to eat, at 9 AM, in a bowling alley. There's a call for Agnes. She goes to answer the phone but by the time she gets there the line is dead. She returns to the table where she was seated with Kyle but he doesn't look so good and he has a knife in his chest.

Agnes goes to get the manager of the bowling alley but Kyle has vanished by the time she gets back to the table. The manager kicks her out of the bowling alley. She goes to make a phone call but two men are following. They aren't the same men that were after Kyle the night before.

Agnes meets Doug. She goes back to his hotel room. He jabs her with sodium pentothal, truth serum. He asks her some questions and then sends her home. She grabs Doug and kisses him before the taxi leaves.

The men who were chasing Kyle show up. They take Agnes prisoner and interrogate her. They are looking for a number. She doesn't know what they are talking about. It doesn't occur to her that the piece of paper that Kyle gave her might be what they are looking for. She thinks that it's Kyle's phone number.

Agnes escapes from the men but they follow her into an industrial laundry building. They are chasing her when Doug and a couple of his colleagues show up.

Thoughts

Maddie and David are only in the beginning and ending of this episode. It is Agnes' episode. Some of the dialogue between Agnes and Doug sounded like dialogue written for Maddie and David.

This was fun. It wasn't great but I enjoyed it. Allyce Beasley, who played Agnes, really carries this episode. It was kind of silly and forced in places but it was good.
