Chee warns Manuelito (over the radio) about Whitover, who is in the car with her at the time. Chee speaks in Navajo because he knows that Whitover is with her. Chee takes off, after he is done talking to Manuelito, and heads to the canyon where she and Whitover are headed.

Leaphorn finds the cave that Tzo and Nakai have been using as their base of operations. He gets trapped in a tunnel after Tzo and Nakai realize that someone else has sneaked in to the cave. They try to smoke him out.

Manuelito loses Whitover as soon as he turns his back, after they have arrived at the canyon. Whitover runs into Chee and shoots him. Chee goes down but the bullet caught him in the arm. Whitover leaves Chee where he fell and enters the cave.

Whitover finds Tzo and Nakai. Leaphorn escapes from the smoke trap and joins Whitover, thinking that they are on the same side. Whitover shoots and kills Nakai and then shoots Leaphorn, injuring him. Whitover lets Tzo leave and take some of the money with him.

The next morning Whitover is dead, as is Tzo. Chee and Manuelito blow up the cave using explosives that were set by Tzo and Nakai. Whitover and Nakai's bodies are in the cave when they blow it. They left the money in there too. Chee later finds out that the cave was excavated but they didn't find any money and only Whitover's body.

Thoughts

This episode, like the rest of this season, moved too quickly for my tastes. Maybe with another four or more episodes they could have done this story justice. The characters weren't fleshed out enough. The acting was uneven at best.

This is the season finale. I don't see myself watching the next season of this show.
