Better Call Saul 5.02

50% Off

Gus meets with Nacho. Gus makes it clear that he wants to know more about what Lalo has going on. Gus makes it clear that Nacho's father's life is on the line if Nacho can't or won't deliver.

Saul talks Kim into going to look at a nicer house.

Lalo visits Hector at the nursing home.

Mike does Stacey a favor and looks after Kaylee, his granddaughter. Kaylee asks him a lot of questions about her father. He gets annoyed and yells at Kaylee.

Crazy Eight gets caught by the police trying to fix the drain pipe that is used as the delivery route for drugs that they sell from the Fifth Street apartment. Nacho impresses Lalo by going back into the apartment (while the police are standing outside) and retrieving the drugs that are still in the apartment.

Saul works his magic at the courthouse. He runs into Howard briefly. He pays off one of the workers in the courthouse to stall the elevator so that he can get some time alone with one of the prosecutors who has been dodging his request for a meeting.

The episode ends with Nacho picking Saul up off the street and asking him to come with him.

Thoughts

The musical montage at the beginning of this episode felt wasted.

Nacho, presumably wants Saul to defend Crazy Eight.

I'm not sure where things are going with Kim. I'm still not sure what to make of her feelings about what she did at the end of the previous episode.

Where is Mike's story going? Are Stacey and Kaylee going to be in more episodes this season or is this it for the most part.

This episode was okay. There were a few moments that felt overplayed and lacked the subtlety that I associate with this show. It felt like they were setting things up for future episodes but I wasn't terribly impressed with the job they did on this one. The overall story and the acting performances are fine. It's the execution that I did not impress me.
