A Model Family 1.01

Episode 1

Dong-ha's life is starting to come apart. He's a professor at a university hoping to get tenure . He bribed the head of the department days before the department head got arrested for sexually assaulting a student. Dong-Ha's wife wants a divorce, his son has serious medical problems, and his teenage daughter is fed up with her parents.

Everything is spirally downward when Dong-ha discovers a car with two dead bodies and a huge bag filled with cash. He disposes of the car and buries the bodies in the backyard, while his wife and kids are away visiting her parents. He almost gets caught by the police while he is transporting the bodies. He accidentally leaves a cell phone in with the bodies he buried and later has to dig them up to retrieve it.

Gangsters led by Gwang-cheol start looking for their missing friends whom Dong-ha buried. They find the car but it is clean, no sign of the bodies or the cash.

Two police detectives find the car before the gangsters do and keep an eye on it from a distance.

Eun-joo, Dong-ha's wife, starts to suspect that something is up after she checks their bank account and sees some unusually large transactions. The episode ends with Dong-ha narrowly avoiding an encounter with Gwang-cheol, without realizing it, and then getting a phone call from Eun-joo on the phone that he just dug up.

Thoughts

I get the impression that one of the dead bodies might have been an undercover cop but that's just a guess on my part. Gwang-cheol seems like trouble in a big way. Even the other gangsters seem to be scared of him. Was that really the phone Dong-ha just dug up that Eun-joo called him on or was it his phone?

This is good. It's a little crazy and twisted. I hope I can keep all the names straight but I want to watch more. I'm a little worried that it is going to get too out of control crazy for me.
