Genesis of the Daleks - Part Six
The Doctor, with some help form Sarah and Harry, gets the Dalek operator off his neck off his neck and throws it back in the room with the others. The Doctor is ready to blow up the room but then changes his mind. He doesn't feel as if he has the right to destroy the Daleks.
The surviving Kaleds hold their meeting. Davros speaks at the meeting. Only a couple scientists come over to his side. The Doctor and his companions are there but they don't interfere in the proceedings. They find some of the Doctor's gadgets on one of the tables, including his sonic screwdriver and the time ring.
The Doctor, Sarah, and Harry leave the meeting when they see Nyder depart. He tries to attack them but they overpower him. They have him take them to Davros' office, where the recording of the Doctor enumerating Dalek mistakes in future conflicts is stored. Nyder hands it over to them but then he locks them in Davros' office.
Davros unleashes the Daleks on the scientists who voted against him. They kill them all. The Doctor and the others are able to see this on a view screen in Davros office.
Severn shows up and unlocks the door to Davros' office. They are getting ready to leave the bunker, because as Severn explains, the Thals are getting ready to seal the only remaining entrance to the bunker with explosives.
The Daleks turn on Davros. They take over the production of Daleks. They kill Nyder when he tries to interfere with their plans. They also kill the scientists who sided with Davros. The story ends with the Daleks trapped in the bunker as the Doctor, Sarah, and Harry hold on to the time ring and spin around in a circle.
Thoughts
I love how Davros is undone by his own creations. The servant takes charge and the master is left begging for pity from creatures that he has designed to be without pity.
Tom Baker (Doctor Who), Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith), Peter Miles (Nyder), and David Maloney (director) are on the commentary track for this episode.
What a story! It doesn't get much better than this. I put this story up there with other favorites of mine including Robots of Death, Talons of Weng-Chiang, and Revelation of the Daleks. There are others that I would like to add to that list but I have not seen them in decades. I hope to get to all of them in the few years.
