Jason Mendoza
Jianyu and Eleanor talk. His real name is Jason Mendoza and he's a DJ from Jacksonville, FL. He's getting tired of keeping quiet. Eleanor tries to convince him to continue to keep his mouth shut but then Chidi finds out about Jason's secret. Tahani almost finds out but Eleanor and Chidi lie and tell her that they are trying to coax Jianyu out of his shell.
Tahani hosts the opening night for a new restaurant, The Good Place. Jason wants to break his cover but just as he is starting to talk a hole opens up in the ground, in the middle of the restaurant. Everyone freaks out and runs screaming from the restaurant.
The episode ends with Jason agreeing to let Chidi teach him how to be a good person.
There are a few flashbacks in this episode to Jason's past. He was not a good person. Eugene Cordero played the part of Pillboi, Jason's best friend. This is the first of six episodes of this show in which Pillboi appeared. I've seen him most recently in A Man on the Inside and heard his voice (He's the voice of Rutherford) in Star Trek: Lower Decks.
This was another good one. This show has yet to lose me. I'm still hungry for more. My guess is that there will be more people who turn out to be not exactly what they claim to be. My guess is that Tahani and Chidi will like Eleanor and Jason turn out to be phonies. I'm also guessing that Michael has something that he is hiding from everyone.
