Epidemiology

A zombie infestation begins at the Greendale Halloween party. The cause of the infestation is the food that Dean Pelton bought at a surplus store. The infected spread the infection by biting others. The Dean escapes the building but locks everyone inside whether they are infected or not. The uninfected fight for their lives but one by one they get bit by their infected colleagues.

Thoughts

It's been a while since I last watched an episode of this show. This was a fun but not great episode. I liked the costumes but the premise of the episode left something to be desired. This was not awful but it wasn't all that great either.

Messianic Myths and Ancient Peoples

Shirley wants Abed to make a Christian movie to stream on YouTube. He says no but then changes his mind. The movie he makes isn't what Shirley had in mind. Pierce starts hanging out with some other senior citizens on the Greendale campus.

I really started to get into this one once Abed got the bug. He took Shirley's idea and then ran with it in a different direction. He makes a very meta-movie in which everything that happens on set is okay. It doesn't matter if someone interrupts filming, like Shirley does at one point, because it is all part of the movie.

Not a perfect episode but I enjoyed this one. It only made me cringe a couple times.

Basic Rocket Science

The study group accidentally gets locked in Greendale Community College's new space simulator. Dean Pelton wanted them to clean but they couldn't resist taking a look inside. Abed gets left behind as the space simulator gets towed. The others turn on themselves for a while until they realize that what they need to do is work together if they want to get the simulator back to campus.

Not bad, but also not so great. Dean Pelton had some of the best lines but there weren't that many of them. It felt like the episode rested a little too heavily on the shoulders of the simulator. There just wasn't enough in the way of meaningful character moments.

The Psychology of Letting Go

Jeff gets obsessed with his health after he learns he has high cholesterol despite his healthy diet. Pierce is convinced that his recently deceased mother will return from death, which creeps out the others, especially Troy. Britta and Annie get competitive about raising money for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Chang has to stay away from Professor Duncan due to a restraining order.

Patton Oswalt makes a guest appearance as a nurse at the the Greendale Health Clinic.

Not the best, not the worst. It had its moments but on the whole fell a bit short in my opinion.

Accounting for Lawyers

Jeff runs into Alan, an old colleague, someone he used to work with before he got disbarred. They start hanging out together. Jeff misses some of the study group's meetings. Annie realizes that she knows Alan from her Narcotics Anonymous group. I don't recall if this is something that came up in the first season or not, I mean the fact that Annie attended NA meetings.

Annie recalls something that Alan said that leads her to believe that he's the one that got Jeff fired. The group does what they can to break the news to Jeff and obtain proof that Alan is the culprit.

Chang still wants in to the study group. He gets to join their team for the Greendale Pop and Lockathon but they withhold membership in the study group.

Drew Carey shows up as one of the lawyers but not the one who betrayed Jeff.

There were a few good laughs in this one but it didn't measure up to the previous episode.

Anthropology 101

Britta is still reeling from what happened in 1.25 (Pascal's Triangle Revisited). She is mortified at all the attention she is getting until she realizes what a celebrity she has become on campus. Annie has the hots for Jeff. Jeff is publicly shunned by most if not all women on campus until he comes up with a strategy for getting back at Britta. Troy is tweeting everything stupid his new roommate, Pierce, says. Abed gets very meta with his ideas for the group. The group is taking an anthropology class taught by Professor June Bauer (Betty White). Chang, formerly Professor Chang the Spanish teacher, wants to join the study group.

I forgot how good this show can be. They pulled out all the stops with this one. I loved how ridiculous Jeff's scheme to get back at Britta got. I am very impressed. If all the episodes this season are as good as this one then I will be very happy.
