Hail, Caesar! (2016)

Eddie Mannix (Brolin) has problems and has decisions to make. He is a big wheel at Capitol Pictures in the 1950s. He doesn't own the place but he runs it. One of his stats (Clooney) goes AWOL. Eddie later learns that the star was kidnapped and is being held for ransom. Eddie is also being courted by Lockheed. They've seen what he gets done at Capitol and want him on their team.

Thoughts

There was a real studio bigwig named Eddie Mannix. He worked at MGM. He was an enforcer who rose very high at MGM. Toni, his second wife, had an affair with George Reeves. That story is the subject of the film Hollywoodland.

Queen Sono 1.04

Rookie

The year is 2015 and Queen is the rookie. Shandu is still working for SOG. They are lovers. She is stuck doing desk work while he works in the field. She craves to be given a more exciting assignment.

Queen finally gets her break and is assigned to a protection detail. She and Vljoen are sent as part of the protection detail. They are guarding a meeting that Deputy President Malunga is having with some European businessmen. The men are trying to buy Malunga's influence. They want to build a nuclear power plant. Malunga isn't moving as fast as they hoped he would. They've already given him 50M Rand. The meeting ends with the businessmen walking out, angry.

Pill-O-Matix

The new pill dispensing machine arrives. It isn't the high end model that they thought they were getting. Gloria is the one behind the decision to get the machine. She feels bad about putting Eddie out of a job. She hired him a decade before. She's working on finding him another job.

Coop breaks up with Melissa. He's only got eyes for Jackie now. Jackie tells him no but he won't listen. He buys her flowers. She returns the flowers to him only to find them on her desk later on. This time she throws them in the trash.

Young Justice 2.11

Cornered

Despero comes to Earth. He is looking for a challenge. He lands at the Hall of Justice. He wants to fight the heavy hitters from the Justice League but they aren't home. Some members of the younger team (Superboy, Miss Martian, Bumblebee, Mal, Zatanna) plus Captain Marvel are there. Despero uses his third eye to knock Zatanna out. He wants a physical fight. Captain Marvel is more than happy to take him on but he isn't much of a match for the alien. He tries using his magic lightning on Despero but then he finds himself unable to change from Billy Batson back to Captain Marvel.

Guess Who's Coming to Lunch?

Tiger stays for lunch with Camillo and her alternate universe self, Tyanne. Tiger and Tyanne seem to get along but Tyanne doesn't like Tiger.

Josh wanders in the desert until someone from the NAG finds him. He is taken back to the NAG. Wolf spots him and introduces him to his new life. He tells Josh that the NAG is their new life and there is no way in or out but then Tiger shows up.

The Essence of a Penguin

Sam does a great job with drawing a picture of a penguin but the next assignment for art class throws him for a loop. He is supposed to draw the essence of his animal. He doesn't understand the assignment. He doesn't understand what he is being asked to do.

Never Surrender: A Galaxy Quest Documentary (2019)

This is a sentimental look back at Galaxy Quest (1999) which in turn was a look back of sorts at Star Trek: The Original Series.

It has been a few years since I last watched Galaxy Quest. I think I saw it in the theater when it was first released.

I like how this documentary examines the making of the movie from various angles. I didn't know who the director was originally going to be and had no idea who ended up directing the movie. The topics covered include the origins of the story, the casting process, the designs of the creatures and sets, what it was like on the set.
