Ray does stuff. He's a bouncer. He collects money. He also has a life outside of his work, a dog, an ex-wife, and a daughter who can't be more than 7 or 8.
Ray is very low key. He gets intense when he needs to. Sometimes he's a little too low key, like when he meets Ally for the first time. They were both in a park near the beach walking their dogs. The dogs get interested in one another. Ray and Ally chat briefly.
Ray runs into Ally again by chance on the street. She's a paramedic. He's a little more forward this time. She gives him her number.
The title of the episode comes from an incident where Ray does his friend Gary a favor. Gary's wife found a porn film in their home. Gary told her it belonged to his friend. She is livid and doesn't believe him. Ray reluctantly comes over to apologize. That's when he finds out the name of the film: Golden Showers.
Thoughts
I tried this show on a whim. I didn't think it would suck me it but it did. I think it is a combination of Ray's low key nature and the music. I'm not a big fan of crime dramas. In order for them to work for me they need to be about more than just the violence. This one seems to be. I like some of the humor. I think I will stick with this and watch it again.
There are just six episodes in the first season. There's a second season of 11 episodes but so far just the first season is available on Hulu.
The show is from Australia. I didn't watch it with the subtitles on. There were a few moments where I wasn't sure what people were saying.
