Gabriel Sarda flubs it when he needs to break bad news to one of his clients, actress Cécile de France. She was supposed to star in Quentin Tarantino's next movie but Tarantino has decided that at 40 she is too old for the part. Gabriel doesn't know how to approach Cécile. She winds up finding out inadvertently from Camille and then fires Gabriel.
Camille Valentini gets a job working for Andréa Martel, one of Gabriel's colleagues. It is a stroke of luck. She was there to ask Mathias, another of Gabriel's colleagues, for help. She had a fling with the older man and is now hoping he will help get her into the business. She happens to be in the right place at the right time when Andréa's assistant quits.
Mathias, takes advantage of Gabriel's misfortune and talks Cécile into letting him represent her. He talks to Tarantino's producer. A deal is struck which gets Cécile back into the movie but not as the star and she will have to get some cosmetic surgery done first. Cécile is very hesitant but in the end she agrees to get the work done on her face that Tarantino's people insist she get.
Camille is pushed to conduct a bit of dirty work by Andréa. She gets fired after Andréa finds out that it was Camille who delivered the bad news to Cécile. Andréa rehires her after Camille reveals that she got the information that Andréa was looking for.
Gabriel is at a loss but after Arlette, another of his colleagues, gives him a pep talk he tries winning back Cécile. He finds out that she has been withholding information from him. They chat. He drives her to the clinic where she will have the work done but at the last minute she decides that she can't go through with it. She fires Mathias and rehires Gabriel.
The episode ends with the reveal that the head of the agency has died while on vacation.
Thoughts
I watched this show in French with the English subtitles turned on. I understand a little bit of French but there was plenty that I would not have been able to follow without the subtitles.
I had heard about this show and decided to try watching it on a whim. I was pleasantly surprised. I like the drama and the sense of humor in this episode. I'm going to try watching another episode or two. Each season is just six episodes long so there's a decent chance that if I like the next one that I will watch the rest of the first season.
