Star Trek: The Next Generation 2.08

A Matter of Honor

Commander Riker volunteers for an exchange mission on a Klingon ship. He does his best to prepare for the mission. He doesn't expect it to be a cake walk. He is challenged by the second officer aboard the Pagh, the Klingon ship, soon after boarding. Knowing how the Kilingon's do things Riker attacks without warning.

A bacterial lifeform is detected on the outside hull of the Enterprise. The same organism is also detected on the Pagh. It has eaten a hole through the outer hull of the Klingon ship. Captain Kargan, the Klingon commander determines, without evidence, that the Enterprise must be responsible. He announces that they will find the Enterprise and attack it.

Captain Kargan orders Commander Riker to reveal the secrets of the Enterprise. Riker refuses to do so. It turns out to be a test. Kargan would have killed him if he had revealed the secrets.

A cure is discovered by the crew Enterprise for the organism eating at the hull of both ships. The Enterprise tries hailing the Klingon ship, which is cloaked, but Captain Kargan refuses to believe what he hears. He proceeds with his plan to destroy the Enterprise.

Commander Riker is forced to use some subterfuge to some defuse the situation.

Thoughts

Captain Kargan was played by Christopher Collins. This is one of two appearances that the actor made on Next Generation. He appeared in two episodes of Deep Space Nine. He also did a fair amount of voice work for cartoons including Star Blazers, Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, G.I. Joe, Transformers, and The Simpsons.

Second Officer Klag is played by Brian Thompson. This is the actor's only appearance on an episode of this series but he also made appearances in Star Trek: Generations, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise.

The Tactics Officer is played by Peter Parros. This is the actor's only appearance on any Star Trek series or movie. He was a regular cast member in the 4th season of Knight Rider. He has been a regular on The Haves and Have Nots since 2013.

This felt a little rushed in places but on the whole it was a pretty good episode.
