Freaks and Geeks 1.05

Tests and Breasts

Sam gets embarrassed by Mr. Fredericks, who is teaching his Sex Ed. He calls Sam, Doctor Love, in front of the whole class. Some of the guys in his class continue to call him that outside of class which just causes more problems for Sam.

Lindsay tries to help Daniel study for a math test. He decides he would rather cheat. He steals the test and gets Lindsay to help him fill it out. She's reluctant at first but after she gets angry at Mr. Kowchevski, Daniel's math teacher, she agrees to help him cheat.

Daniel tries to help Sam. He gets him a porn film. Sam is confused and is going to return it but Neal convinces him that they should watch it. Sam, Neal, and Bill watch the movie at Neal's house after school. Neal loves it but Sam and Bill are both grossed out.

Mr. Kowchevski accuses Lindsay of helping Daniel cheat. She denies it, even though it is true. Mr. Kowchevski tells her parents but she still denies it. The pressure is getting to her but she sticks to her story.

Mr. Fredericks pulls Sam aside after class. He asks Sam some questions which lead to Sam admitting that he saw a porn film. Mr. Fredericks and Sam have a long talk. Sam is uncomfortable at the beginning but by the end of it he is laughing.

Mr. Rosso calls a disciplinary meeting. Lindsay's parents show up. They apologize to her for not believing her at first. Mr. Kowchevski makes Daniel attempt to answer one question from the test. The only thing he writes on the page is "Zeppelin Rocks". Lindsay bursts out laughing when Daniel tries to explain the trouble he has in Math.

Thoughts

Ken (Seth Rogen) is not in this episode.

One things that jumps out at me now is the fact that while there are several male students in the primary cast there is only one female student, Lindsay.

I thought the scene with Sam and Mr. Fredericks was a little weird.

This is a good episode but probably not my favorite. I think I liked the dramatic aspects of this episode more than I did the humorous ones.
