The Hand of Fear - Part 2
Sirens start to go off at the nuclear power station. The Doctor and Dr. Carter escape from the guards in the confusion and make their way to the control room. Professor Watson, the top man at the power station, asks them to leave but they stick around.
Sarah has sealed the door to the room where whe is holed up with the hand that is now wiggling and regenerating. Professor Watson and the Doctor try talking some sense into Sarah but she is under the sway of Eldrad and won't listen. Dr. Carter is also under the sway of Eldrad but that isn't apparent to the Doctor just yet
The Doctor heads down to the room in which Sarah has locked herself and the hand. Dr. Carter goes with him. He tries to kill the Doctor. Dr. Carter falls to his death off from a great height when he tries taking a swing at the Doctor.
The Doctor breaks into the room and gets Sarah to safety. Driscoll, a technician, goes back into the room, in a hazmat suit, to retrieve the hand. He sees the ring, it flashes and now he is under the sway of Eldrad. Driscoll delivers the hand to the decontamination room. He puts it away in a secure spot.
The Doctor hypnotizes Sarah, against her will, to find out what she knows about what happened to her. Among the things she says is the phrase, "Eldrad must live", which she keeps repeating. Driscoll goes back to look for the ring. He doesn't find it which makes the Doctor suspicious that Driscoll is now working for Eldrad.
Driscoll retrieves the hand, when no one is looking. He attacks and knocks out one of the security guards who gets in the way. He goes back to the reactor room where Sarah took the hand before. He takes it deeper into the reactor than Sarah managed to get. The reactor starts to malfunction. The power in the facility starts to fluctuate. Control panels start to explode.
Thoughts
I like this episode a better than the last one. It builds off what came before and introduces Professor Watson who is a bit of a wild card. He does not defer to the Doctor. The Hand of Fear still doesn't compare to some of favorite stories but it is in the acceptable range at the moment.
