Outlaw Star 1.03

Into Burning Space

Gene and Hilda deal with the heavy machinery that the thugs brought with them. They high tail it back to the Horus with Jim and Melfina and quickly depart Blue Heaven. They are followed by 5 grappler ships. Gene is still dealing with space sickness. Jim mans the guns but the grappler ships have defenses that render the lasers useless.

The fight with the grappler ships gets interrupted by a giant ship of the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire. Hilda manages to force the big ship to yield. The Horus gets away but the commander of the Ctarl-Ctarl ship doesn't let the grappler ships slip by.

The Horus makes its way to a rendezvous with some associates of Hilda but when it gets there they find the wreckage of her friends' ships. Kei pirates, the same ones they dealt with before, show up and attack the Horus. The pirates found the Horus with some help from the MacDougall Brothers who also hired the thugs that were trying to capture them in Blue Heaven.

A fight breaks out between the pirates and the Horus. Gene finally gets over his space sickness long enough to man the guns. The Horus gets away but not before it the pirates place a tracking spell on the hull of the ship.

Aisha Clanclan, the commander of the Ctarl-Ctarl ship is reduced in rank for letting the Horus get away. She is ordered to stay at Blue Heaven while the ship she used to command is sent after the Horus.

The Horus heads to Farfallas where they find what Ice Hilda was looking for, a ship that was built using the pirates' brains and Space Forces' technology.

Thoughts

This episode opens with the narrator talking about the impact of the Munchhausen drive which made faster-than-light travel possible. Different sorts of people traveled traveled the realms of the universe including those known as outlaws.

The story continues to unfold. The Galactic Leyline is mentioned. Aisha Clanclan makes her first of many appearances. This story isn't gold but it is fun to watch it all come together.
