Moonlighting 2.18

Camille

David and Maddie hire Camille Brand, a woman on the run from a man pretending to be a police officer. They don't know about her fugitive status, just that she saved the life of a politician and is about to be given the key to the city. David figures that she will be an excellent hire but Maddie has her doubts.

Camille rejects David's sales pitch when he first makes it. When the phony police officer shows up and tries to shake her down she reconsiders. She shows up at the office of the Blue Moon Detective Agency and finds herself greeted enthusiastically by the staff of the office.

David gives up his office for Camille. The phony cop eventually tracks her down. There is a chase. The fourth wall is broken. The episode ends with Maddie and David saying goodbye to one another until they meet again next season.

Moonlighting 2.17

Funeral for a Door Nail

Roger Clements is distraught after Celia, his wife is killed in a car accident. Roger hires someone to kill him but he asks for a few days to clear up some matters before the hired killer fulfills the contract. Roger goes to get his will straightened out but while he is waiting to see Alan Margolese, his lawyer, he spots Celia down on the street. He runs outside but she is gone by the time he gets to where he last saw her.

Clements contacts Blue Moon Detective Agency. He asks them to get the hired hit called off. They do but it turns out to be too late. There was a bomb planted in his car. When he goes to leave his car explodes.

Moonlighting 2.16

Sleep Talkin' Guy

A prostitute named Toby comes into the office and tells David about Jerry, one of her regular clients, who said something in his sleep about someone named Farley getting murdered later that night. She doesn't want to hire David. She just thought she should tell someone.

There's no job so David doesn't do anything about it. The the front page story the next day is about someone named Farley who was murdered. David finds Toby and pays her to listen to what her regular client who talks in his sleep has to say and report back to him. She says okay.

Moonlighting 2.15

Witness for the Execution

Ninety-year-old Lawrence Everette wants to hire Maddie and David to witness his murder. Maddie doesn't want to have anything to do with the matter. David is okay with taking the case. They argue about it. He winds up going to Mr. Everette's room at the nursing home at the appointed hour. Mr. Everette is already dead.

David is standing over the life-support machines in Mr. Everette's room when a nurse walks in. She accuses David of murdering Mr. Everette. David runs off. He stops by Maddie's home later that night. He tells her what happened. While they are talking police detective Lieutenant Tappia shows up.

Maddie talks to the detective but is evasive when he asks her about David. The detective leaves. Maddie returns to her bedroom only to discover that David has left.

Moonlighting 2.14

Every Daughter's Father Is a Virgin

Alexander and Virginia Hayes, Maddie's parents, come to Los Angeles for a wedding. Maddie's mother suspects that Alexander is having an affair. Maddie hires David to follow her father and see what he can find. David follows Maddie's father to a hotel, finds out his room number, and knocks on the door when he knows that he isn't there. A woman answers the door who isn't Virginia.

David reports back in to Maddie what he found. Maddie feels like she has to tell her mother but doesn't know how to do it. Maddie and David go to dinner with Maddie's parents the next night. Maddie can't bring herself to tell her mother but after dinner, when she gets a moment alone with her father she gives her father a piece of her mind.

Moonlighting 2.13

In God We Strongly Suspect

The Great Kandinsky, an escape artist, dies while attempting to escape (while handcuffed) from a tank of water. His widow hires David and Maddie to keep an eye on the body until it gets cremated. They spend the night at the funeral home in the room with the body. The body is there when they arrive but when they wake up the next morning it is gone.

Maddie and David drive to Mrs. Kandinsky's home. They tell her what happened. She is freaked out and slams the door in their faces. They drive around town looking for the body. They wind up at the morgue. They talk to the medical examiner. They ask to see any John Doe's that were brought in. The first one they look at is Mrs. Kandinsky.

David and Maddie don't know what to think. They mull over the situation. The next day the Great Kandinsky turns up dead, for a second time. Maddie and David return to the morgue and confront the medical examiner. He is less than pleased to see them.

Moonlighting 2.12

North by North DiPesto

David and Maddie send Agnes to the California Investigators Association dance in their place. Maddie helps Agnes get dressed up and get her hair and make-up done. Agnes meets a man named Kyle at the dance. They dance. Kyle hands her a piece of paper with some numbers written on it and then he disappears.

The next day Kyle shows up at her office. He takes her out for a bite to eat, at 9 AM, in a bowling alley. There's a call for Agnes. She goes to answer the phone but by the time she gets there the line is dead. She returns to the table where she was seated with Kyle but he doesn't look so good and he has a knife in his chest.

Agnes goes to get the manager of the bowling alley but Kyle has vanished by the time she gets back to the table. The manager kicks her out of the bowling alley. She goes to make a phone call but two men are following. They aren't the same men that were after Kyle the night before.

Moonlighting 2.11

The Bride of Tupperman

David and Maddie are hired by Alan Tupperman to find him a wife. David is excited about taking the case. Maddie is not. Tupperman gives them a document containing a description of what he is looking for in a wife.

Maddie and David disagree over how to interpret the description. They decide to have a contest. Each will bring Tupperman a woman and they will see which one he picks. Maddie finds Molly, who is an expert chef, speaks three languages, but doesn't spend a lot of time on her appearance. David finds Stevie, who presents herself as a woman who spends most of her time on her looks and not much else.

David and Maddie argue over which woman Tupperman will pick. David is certain that it will be Stevie. They get paid by Tupperman for finding him a wife but there is some confusion as to which woman Tupperman picked. 

They follow Tupperman back to his home Connecticut in the hopes of solving the mystery. There they discover a crime.

Moonlighting 2.10

Twas the Episode Before Christmas

Mary and Joseph Goodman wake up in the middle of the night. Two men have broken into their apartment. They force Joseph to drink some alcohol and then throw him over the balcony of his apartment, killing him. Mary escape with their baby in the confusion.

Mary goes upstairs and leaves the baby in Agnes DiPesto's apartment. Agnes was in the middle of doing laundry and left the door to her apartment open. Mary disappears, leaving Agnes to find the baby without a clue as to where it came from.

David and Maddy have questions for Agnes, the next day, when they find her with a baby. She tells them what she knows. They go back to her apartment looking for answers. In the lobby of her building they meet three detectives names King. The three Kings are looking for the Mary and her baby and tell Maddy and David about what happened to Joseph.

Moonlighting 2.09

Atlas Belched

Maddie gets an offer from another agency that wants to buy Blue Moon Detective Agency. David advises her against selling but she does anyway. David runs into a man, Phil West, who is about to lose his job. His story is that a rolodex was stolen off his desk. It's a rolodex with a lot of phone numbers for very important people, worldwide.

David helps Phil find the rolodex and then finds out that Maddie sold the company. David goes to Phil's boss and tries to impress him by pointing out that he's the one who found the rolodex. It is then that David learns that someone is holding the rolodex for ransom. Phil's boss assumes that Phil is the one ransoming the rolodex and accuses David of colluding with Phil.

David runs out of there ASAP. Maddie, meanwhile, discovers that everything has changed at the office since she sold the company. She doesn't like it. Maddie and David track down the rolodex and Phil. They talk him into giving it back. They promise to tell his boss that he was held hostage along with the rolodex.

Moonlighting 2.08

Portrait of Maddie

An artist named Philip Wright paints a portrait of Maddie and then kills himself. The police want to know what Maddie knows about Philip Wright. She doesn't know anything and tells the police detective investigating the apparent suicide just that.

Maddie decides to buy the portait with the little bit of profit that Blue Moon has made recently. Charlie Wright, Philip's brother, shows up the next day. He expresses regret at the loss of his brother. He seems sincere to Maddie and she decides to give him the portrait.

Charlie takes the picture to his brother's apartment and kills himself. Once again the detective investigating the case has Maddie come in for questioning. Maddie insists that she doesn't know anything.

David and Maddie go back to her place after the interrogation. They find her living room has been torn to shreds and there is a man there waiting for them. He tells them a story about a different painting, a stolen painting called the Duchess. He forces them at gun point to go to Philip's apartment and take the picture with them.

The man ties them up, after he finds a clue as to where the Duchess might be, and leaves. Maddie figures out where the painting might really be while she is tied up. She and David manage to get themselves untied and then go across the street to a car painting business. They find the painting but then someone else shows up.

Moonlighting 2.07

Somewhere Under the Rainbow

Kathleen Kilpatrick hires the Blue Moon Detective Agency to catch a man who is pursuing her. She doesn't know who the man is but she claims that he's after her pot of gold, and that she's a leprechaun. Maddie doesn't want to take the case. David does. Maddie washes her hands of the case and lets David take it.

David and Kathleen go out to dinner. She starts to get nervous after dinner. She's convinced that they are being followed by a man even though there doesn't seem to be anyone following them. She tells David she killed a man the night before. He thinks she's acting crazy but then a man shows up and knocks David over the head.

The police show up and the man runs off. David and Kathleen go to see Maddie. Kathleen falls asleep on Maddie's couch while David tells Maddie what Kathleen told him about killing a man. They go to the morgue, the next day, and take a look at the body of the man she claimed to have killed.

Moonlighting 2.06

Knowing Her

Jillian Armstrong, an ex-girlfriend of David, hires the Blue Moon Detective Agency to try and find a missing piece of her jewelry. Jillian is separated from her husband Harlan. David wonders if Harlan might have something to do with the missing locket. 

David goes to visit Jillian. She almost falls off the balcony to her hotel room when the railing falls apart. Later she has to have her stomach pumped after she overdoses on sleeping pills. She is taken to the hospital where she recovers.

Maddie goes to visit Harlan Armstrong. She comes away from the meeting with the impression that Harlan is just an emotionally wounded man. David thinks Harlan had something to do with Jillian's near death experiences.

Jillian and David meet up after she is released from the hospital. They are talking and kissing when she spots Harlan's car. She goes over to the car alone. There's a struggle. A gun goes off and Harlan is dead.

Maddie has doubts about Jillian. David still believes her. Maddie's doubts are confrimed when she gets a visit from the detective in charge of the investigation into Harlan murder.

There is a wild car chase involving a Hearse. David considers apologizing to Maddie but decides not to.

Moonlighting 2.05

My Fair David

Maddie is enraged when she walks into the office of the Blue Moon Detective Agency only to find that David has a limbo contest going, during working hours. Maddie bets David that he can't act professional for one week. He accepts the bet.

Maddie and David are hired my Emily Greydon to deliver the $100,000 ransom for her stepson Clark. She wants them to try and bargain with the kidnappers and offers them a bonus if they can get the kidnappers to take an amount less than $100,000.

David does his best to win the bet. It gets Maddie on the bad side of everyone in the office, especially Ms. DiPesto who accuses her of de-Dave-ing Mr. Addison.

Moonlighting 2.04

The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice

The episode opens with an introduction by Orson Welles. He informs the viewers that part of the episode will be not be in color.

Maddie and David meet with a client (Mr. Bigelow) at the Flamingo Cove, an old run down nightclub. Bigelow wanted them to get evidence that his wife is cheating on him. They followed her around for days but were unable to come up with any evidence to support his claim. He is not pleased.

David and Maddie strike up a conversation with the guy who is trying to sell the Flamingo Cove. The subject quickly turns to the murder that happened there, decades before. There was a love triangle. A married woman and her lover killed her husband, or at least that's the story. They both went to the electric chair. The truth behind the murder was never resolved. They both died swearing that the other was the one who killed her husband.

Maddie and David leave the nightclub arguing about who killed who. That night they both dream about the case, not the case they were working on but the Flamingo Cove murder.

Moonlighting 2.03

Money Talks... Maddie Walks

Maddie and David are walking down the street, after a meeting with a potential client that didn't go so well, arguing when Maddie looks up and spots some she knows, about to jump off a ledge. She goes up to the ledge to try and talk him out of doing it. She learns that the accountant who stole her money used it to help build a casino in Buenos Aires.

Maddie flies to Buenos Aires and goes to see Ron Sawyer, the accountant. He isn't very nice or cooperative. She doesn't get anywhere with him. David shows up and suggests that they use some of the money that Ron gave Maddie to spend on gambling. They play craps and several other games and win $20,000.

David is ready to leave but Maddie isn't satisfied. She wants David to play Ron in a game of stud poker, which he told her is his game. David tries to talk her out of it but she insists. The game doesn't go exactly as Maddie hoped it would. She walks away only $4,000 richer than she was an the beginning of the night.

Moonlighting 2.02

The Lady in the Iron Mask

Maddie and David are hired by Barbara Wiley, a woman who hides her face behind a mask and has a raspy voice. She wants the Blue Moon Detective Agency to find a man who named Harbert who just got out of prison. He was locked up for throwing acid in her face years ago, just before she got married. Harbert claimed that he was in love with her. 

David and Maddie argue about whether they should take the case. He thinks they should. She does not. He finally talks her into taking the case. They find Harbert working as a tour guide. He tells them to tell Barbara Wiley that they couldn't find him.

Harbert turns up dead the next day. Maddie and David suspect that Barbara Wiley might be the killer. They try to talk to her about the murder but she doesn't want to talk. They stakeout the hotel where she is staying. They follow her but then notice something different about her. They discover that the person they've been following, the one beneath the veil is not Barbara but her husband.

David and Maddie get into an argument. They return to the hotel separately. They are both disguised as Barbara. They both get the key to her room. Hilarity ensues.

Moonlighting 2.01

Brother, Can You Spare a Blonde?

Maddie needs to come up with $35,000 in a hurry or else the IRS is going to seize her house. Richard, David's brother, comes to town. He is loaded, with cash which he found in his car. He doesn't say anything to David and Maddie about how he got the money. He lets them think that he came by it honestly.

David borrows $37,000 from Richard. The next day he gives the money to Maddie. He tells her that he found it in an old bank account that the detective agency has that he forgot. Maddie is very grateful and doesn't question David's story. Ms. DiPesto is another story. The agency only has one bank account that she knows of.

Mr. Navarone, the man who left the money ($100,000) in Richard's car, travels from Philadelphia, PA to Los Angeles, CA looking for Richard and the money. He gets the two Addison brothers mixed up. He assaults David in the bathroom outside of the Blue Moon Detective Agency's offices.
