The Darkroom 1.03.A

Needlepoint

starring Esther Rolle, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs
directed by Paul Lynch

A man (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) visita an old woman (Esther Rolle) out in the woods in Louisiana. He tells her that he's been experiencing terrible pain for about three weeks. He knows she's behind it. She tells him that it is because her granddaughter died three weeks ago. He says he did nothing to harm her granddaughter.

She pulls out a doll and sticks it with a pin. He cries out in pain. He strangles her but then hears someone coming. He runs off. He thinks he's got away but then he starts to experience great pain again. The woman's dog is tearing at the doll and then buries it. The man is found dead from asphyxiation.

Thoughts

I know Esther Rolle best from Good Times, where she played Florida Evans. She was in a few movies that I have seen including Nothing But a Man (1964), Driving Miss Daisy (1989), and Rosewood (1997). She also appeared in an episode of The Incredible Hulk.

I know Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs best from Welcome Back, Kotter where he played Freddie "Boom-Boom" Washington. He played himself in an episode of Sliders, a show that I used to watch but I don't think I ever saw that episode.

This story was only 8 minutes long. It didn't really go anywhere. It was over almost before it began.
