starring Kevin Bacon, Fred Ward
directed by Ron Underwood
96 minutes
The residents of the extremely small town of Perfection, NV find themselves under attack by giant worms. Handymen Val McKee (Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) lead the towns people in their fight against the slithering and burrowing creatures.
Thoughts
The creatures are pretty gross looking but for the most part I found this movie to be more humorous than scary.
I saw this movie at the AFI-Silver Theater. It was introduced by Count Gore de Vol. There were quite a few enthusiastic audience members who hooted and hollered whenever anything resembling exciting happened.
This was my first time watching Tremors. I probably would have passed but it had been a while since I last saw a film introduced by the Count and I hadn't seen Tremors before before so I went.
The movie was about as good as I hoped it would be. It was fun but it wasn't great. I don't feel any great urge to see it again. I probably wouldn't recommend it most people.
There are a number of sequels to Tremors. I don't intend to give any of them a try.
Notes
The cast included a couple familiar faces, Michael Gross and Reba McEntire. I know him from Family Ties. I know her from her musical career. I don't think I have seen any movies that she has been in prior to now.
I've seen Kevin Bacon in a number of other movies. The most recent one I watched was Diner (1982).
I've seen Fred Ward in a number of other movies. The most recent one I watched was Uncommon Valor (1983).
